Benefits are expensive and the hours are not the most family friendly

Lots of long days meter reading. I read meters for over 3 years, without any grattitude. I learned how not to be a good superviser from my superviser. She spent more time threatening everyone that worked under her, than she did taking care of them. Made it very difficult to work in those situations.

Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting great people. I cant stress that enough. – less

Taking customer calls for gas leaks, moving, demolition, construction, entering in meter readings, correcting biling, scheduling of work orders, payments and arrangments. Not being able to fix some accounts was very frustrating and I could not fix it other than getting a reading so a bill could be issued out and after the bill was issued I could not – more...  adjust or help in arranging the payments on the account. The only advancement was to move back to the Chicago area and was not ready to move back there. – less

I thoroughly enjoyed working for Nicor Gas. I learned many facets of administrative assistant work as the job was diversified and required new challenges each work day.
My supervisor was great to work for as were my sub-supervisors. I worked directly for one manager and indirectly for 4 other regional managers as well as responding to the requests of – more...  approximately 1500 employees.
I made many friends during my employment with Nicor as I had excellent co-workers.
I cannot pin-point any particular area of the job that I found to be difficult - only challenging and enjoyable.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction with other employees as I am a people orientated person. – less
