JOB SUMMARY:
NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care is seeking a competent, reliable and experienced Medical Assistants for a fast-paced clinical setting. The position will be responsible for Back Office/Clinical duties in compliance with Nightlight Pediatric Urgent Care policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant / LVN will report to Nursing Department Managers and Clinical Operations Manager. This position requires a flexible schedule with availability on evenings, holidays and weekends and may be required to be on-call to meet staffing needs and current volume trends. Facility open from 5pm to 11pm on weeknights and 11am to 9pm on weekends and holidays.Must be willing to go to ALL locations.

JOB DUTIES / FUNCTIONS:
Communicates in a professional manner with co-workers and patients to create a safe and
effective environment.

Attends quarterly staff meetings and other meetings and training as required.
Meets annual requirements for continuing education.
Works as part of a team by supporting and motivating co-workers to achieve objectives.
Works in conjunction with other clinical staff and managers to ensure that the laboratory meets the regulatory confines of both the organization and the government to include OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and HIPPA.

CLINICAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Obtains and records vital signs, collects pertinent patient information and rooms patients using electronic medical records.
Has the ability to pre-screen and prioritize patients, as well as recognize and ensure patients in distress are treated appropriately and on a timely manner according to severity and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Administers oral, rectal, and topical medications as well as injections.
Collects specimens for both CLIA Waived and Non-CLIA Waived in-house testing.
Collects and prepares specimens for send-out to outside facility and instructs patients for home collection of in-house and send-out labs.
Performs and assists physician with in-office procedures.
Follows-up on send-out labs and obtains patient disposition.
Attends to patient/parent and other facility calls to minimize direct contact with the physician where appropriate.
Faxes, files and screens documents using electronic medical records.
Maintains lab logs, charts and documentation on paper as well as electronic medical records neat and up to date and ensures that all documentation meets the standards of the facility and outside entities.
Cleans, re-stocks and maintains patient areas, laboratory, equipment, and facility to meet the standards of the back office/nursing department and as deemed appropriate by the department managers, Operations Manager and Laboratory Director.
Aids in maintaining function of laboratory equipment by performing quality controls, routine maintenance, troubleshooting and reporting issues to nursing department management.
Monitors, maintains, stocks and organizes medical supplies, medication samples, and non-clinical back office inventory.
Participates and works as a team with co-workers and management to achieve deadlines for inventory ordering, quality assessment, and other periodic requirements and documentation.
Translates/Interprets as needed for clinical and front office staff.
Any other duties and responsibilities the clinical staff and higher-ups may assign as needed.

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE:
Reports to Nursing Department Managers and Clinical Operations Manager.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have successfully completed and graduated from a medical assistant program (certified MAs preferred) or have LVN certification.
Must have a current CPR Certification
Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
2+ to 5 Years with experience in pediatrics preferred
LMRT/NCT training a plus
Experience in an Urgent Care setting is preferred.
Computer proficiency in MS Office: Word and Excel; experience with electronic charting preferred (e-MDs a plus)
Flexible schedule: evenings, weekends and holidays required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and handle pressure from more than one provider.
Pediatric phlebotomy and catheterization experience is a plus.
Must have good verbal communication and documentation skills.
Teamwork skills are a must!
