About Noble Drilling
Noble Drilling Services (formerly Noble Drilling (U.S.))follows a long and noble tradition of drilling for oil and gas on behalf of other companies. A subsidiary of global contract drilling behemoth Noble Corporation, the unit provides drilling equipment and contract drilling services for the oil and gas industry in the US, primarily in the Gulf of – more... Mexico. In 2007 US-based contract drilling services accounted for 22% of Noble Corp.'s total revenues. The bulk of the US contract drilling revenues was generated by contracts with major oil companies. The balance came from contracts with other independent operators.
Lloyd Noble and Art Olsen founded Noble-Olsen Oil in 1921 with one rig in Oklahoma. In 1930, following the departure of Olsen, the renamed Noble Oil formed subsidiary Noble Drilling to operate its contract drilling business. It began drilling along the Gulf Coast in 1933. – less
