Company which presents one with challenging situation and an opportunity to reach for an higher ground.
Operations and Systems Support Engineer (Current Employee), Lagos –
Pros: free coffee
Cons: work during anti-social hours
Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) is quite a nice place to work. It is a company which presents one with seemingly challenging situation with an opportunity to reach for an higher ground.
As a trainee, One typical event I will not forget in a hurry was when one of NSN's customer, MTN Nigeria needed us to upgrade their fixed network to the new Next generation – more...  network solution.
During the process, we needed to carry out an advance installation and configuration which requires an expert from Germany to do. The expert delayed due to some inconclusiveness in logistics; but MTN was on our neck.

So I had to take the boldness to begin this installation until the German guy arrived to continue. He certified that what I had done so far is accurate. Thumbs were up for me that day.

NSN Nigeria has an averagely competent management that would need to be more radical in the face of serious competition in a rapidly changing world of technology.

Working with senior workers has been my most enjoyed moment. I have used such opportunity to expand my experience and horizon.

The hardest part of the job for me as a junior worker is when I have to learn the technologies on my own without training as it should normally be. Most times they can not afford the training.

Aside the situation mentioned above, every other thing is enjoyable. I cannot remember when last I got bored on duty. – less

Work environment is very demoralizing. Management needs a vision, clear fundamentals gaps first, ERP ???
Collection Controller (Former Employee), Gurgaon, HR –
Pros: junior staff are extremely efficient, delivers in stress and respects quality
Cons: missing terribly on goals, targets and vision. fundamental errors persist.
It is a number oriented company - Those who can manipulate, survive. Others - Change the job or get retrenched.

Top Management has severe lack of vision, has too BIG a mouth leading to demoralized people, which is a deadly Fundamental error.

I enjoyed only with my customers and interacting with them was great. Very understanding and respectful, unlike – more...  my internal relations with line manager(s). – less

a fun challenging,multi-national environment
Intelligent Network Engineer (Former Employee), Beirut –
Pros: flexible time, traveling
Cons: career path not clear
a typical day at work would start with performing test cases for the Intelligent network software, than check, analyze and coordinate with different NSN department to solve costumer raised problem.
i learned how to be detailed oriented, team coordination, self management
my managers were mostly young people that i enjoyed there management style
the – more...  hardest part is when you have an emergency case raised by the costumer and it takes more than 2 sleepless night to solve
the most enjoyable part is the coordination between the teams and recognition fo your work – less

Global Head of CoDe & Security Liaison (Current Employee), Sydney based global role –
Pros: flexible working hours
Cons: poor strategic focus...
NSN is going through a massive transformation and consolidation of business focus. Regretably, my current role is not a part of that future and I am moving on...

A wonderful place to have a productive and innovative work style
Senior Software Engineer (Former Employee), Bangalore –
Pros: good management style, sound engineers, transparency, good infrastructure and facilities
Cons: too many meetings, still using some tools which are not required, but just to support old products.
The organization has established itself in the Agile process and implemented with great efficiency. There was regular meetings and updates shared amongst team members. The management was very transparent in its communication to the team about the company briefings and decisions taken. The hardest part of the job was there was about the bureaucracy, – more...  since I could not access some resources unless given permission from another team. The best part of the job was the work-life balance. It was strictly a 9 hour work. And it is required if you have to be productive. – less
