JOB TITLE: Controls Engineer
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full -Time
CITY AREA: Field Service with office located in Placerville, CA
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
In this position, the Turbine Controls Engineer will perform control logic troubleshooting and combustion tuning. Develop and implement control logic changes on BOP, gas and steam turbines. Audit OEM recommended controls changes and work with Customer to implement recommendation logic modifications/control constant changes, as well as assist with troubleshooting controls issues.
The Engineer must be willing to lead formal and informal controls training if needed. Support Historian and project development activities as requested. Monitor and assist as necessary on new plant startup activities.
Respond to RFP’s. Develop effective relationships with clients, obtain projects, manage projects, and set and monitor control standards.
Experience with multiple DCS platforms is a plus and Ovation experience is preferred. Support upgrades and retrofits of control systems. Support field testing and operation of new hardware. Plant performance testing and modeling. Design, testing, and implementation of plant optimization and reliability initiatives. DLN tuning experience is a plus. Provide outage support.
The applicant must have a strong understanding of process control and have the ability to write logic along with proven experience implementing it in the field.
The applicant must have Controls experience in the Power Industry, with a strong understanding of Turbine controls. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years experience with controls system design, installation, troubleshooting, development, testing of integrated control systems. OEM Field Service or Engineering service experience is highly desirable. A four-year degree in an engineering, science curriculum, or demonstrated proven track record of field experience is a plus. Professional certification is a plus. Experience and knowledge in the following areas desired.

The applicant must be able and willing to travel approximately 60% or more of the time. Availability to work from Placerville, CA office a plus when not traveling. It is essential to be available for on-call support of our clients via cell phone and be willing and available to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet customer expectations and project commitments. Must be willing and able to be on call 24 hours per day and work call out duty as necessary. Applicant must be willing to work varied hours as necessary.
Must have excellent electrical skills and a strong understanding of process instrumentation. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Above average math and computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
Applicant must have a positive “can do” attitude and the ability to work effectively with a team as well as independently. In addition, must have the capability of juggling multiple projects and willingness to share knowledge.
