My time at Nortel was bittersweet. I enjoyed working with my peers and the job was challenging and rewarding when I first started. As the years passed and the fear of lay-offs and buy-outs increased as well as our workloads the morale was very low amongt entire departments. What once was the job of 4 or 8 now fell on 1 or 2 workers that remained. I – more...  did learn so much and worked hard my entire career, but it was at the cost of my family and social life. Now that I have been laid off without severance, due to their bankruptcy, I am trying to find that perfect or more realistic balance in my life. – less

I was a temp there for two years,great boss and the work was interesting.Closed in the 2000's and went back to Canada.

Nortel was a great company, however they went bankrupt. Co-workers were wonderful.

The workplace was an open communication environment. The staff that are approachable and willing to listen and give feedback. My Director was open, supportive, stimulating, collaborative, and focused on my strengths to grow within the company.

Very bad management at teh top. Caused the collapse of Nortel in North America. THe lied and stole our pensions.

The upper management killed the company.

You were rewarded for your work and at the end you were just a number.

Good work environment, lots of projects, good salary, very friendly coworkers, good management, good food and good beer busts on Fridays.

Nortel was a great place to unlimited growth potential. The company had meetings weekly and all of the employees were on the same page. Had the chance to climb a few positions and make more money.

Managers knew who was there to perform task on a daily basis.

Advancement opportunities were available.

A typical day at work was installing cables and wires. I learned how to install cables and set up new equipment for Ameritech in Detroit Michigan. My co-workers were very helpful and we joked and had a lot of fun. The hardest part of the job was running cables in small places. The most enjoyable part of the job was learning different technology....

anyway , nortel is bankrupt and not existing any more . it is a big company but it lost it chance

Crooks ran the company into bankruptcy, screwed people out of their retirement, insisted on th highest level of loyalty and morality except for those at the top. Don't be a fool, look somewhere else.

It was the company having great employee satisfaction, and the technology research and development was leading edge
