NERC is a great place to sharpen your skills and gain new ones. It is a very small company, and the work is plentiful.
I have been fortunate to be promoted to Assistant to Corporate Secretary, in which I interface with the Board of Trustees on a regular basis. In this role, I provide logisitical and corporate support to both the Board and senior management.
Mine is a highly visible position, and a typical day at work involves substantial meeting coordination and calendar management, preparation of complex agenda packages, posting to the NERC websites (public and private), intranet and Diligent Boardbooks, and running presentations at meetings.
The biggest challenge of the position is the workload and work culture. I support the Board of Trustees, the SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, so I wear many hats.
The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing all of the hard work done in the background come together successfully, which in turn, makes everyone look good to the public.
