Very busy, team oriented, high-risk labor and delivery unit
Labor and Delivery Nurse (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 18, 2016
This unit rotates its nurses between its laboring patients, pre-op, intra-op, post-op, triage, and high risk areas. I have learned many skills and gained much knowledge in this department aside from just laboring patients. We get patients who have PIH, diabetes, drug addictions, and many other issues. Most management really tries to pitch in and assist their employees on our very busy days when we are short staffed. Our co-workers are team players as well. We really support each other because we understand how busy it can be when we have multiple patients and multiple tasks to complete. The hardest part of the job is really being present for all of our patients because we usually have one that requires more attention than the others. This is where our team work comes in to play. The most enjoyable part is playing a significant role in one of the most important days of someone's life, when they welcome a new life into their family and the world. Very fulfilling.

Registered Nurse, Oncology Unit (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 10, 2016
Good employer, but did not experience there was any room for advancement. Management was OK but not sure how they view the work of the employees and how much is appreciated. However good compensation package and acceptable patient load.

Secretary (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 10, 2016
As a Secretary for Northside Hospital's Sleep Disorder Center Scheduling department, I work with as small team of self-sufficient and well-educated secretaries. Our duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining insurance benefit information to educate, provide and collect the estimated cost for services to be rendered. We take patient confidentiality very seriously and work to stay up-to-date with any compliance updates.

What makes this job enjoyable is that my self-empowerment is encouraged and that I am in the position to educate and help patients make scheduling and pre-registration a seamless process.

It is no mistake that Northside Hospital is recognized by Forbes as one of the Country's Best Employers.

Great healthcare for patients
Radiological Technologist (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 6, 2016
It will definitely depend on what your job, position, and department you work in to determine your level of satisfaction with your job at Northside. There are so many layers of management, you frequently don't even know who to report to. The hospital gives out pads of paper, pens and a little toiletry kit to each patient, but don't count on the hospital to get you supplies or equipment you need to do your job as efficiently as you should. It is all about image and what looks good to the public, but they don't know that some of the equipment being used is definitely out of its prime. Nurses are treated the best and are often given appreciation luncheons or outside dinners and special appreciation. There are so many different people in so many departments, the hospital probably just can't recognize each department the same.
You will rarely be allowed to work any overtime and the salary is not at the top of the market for the Atlanta area. It is not the lowest either.
Pros
Safe environment to work in, lots of security, clean facility, great patient care
Cons
Too many managers, very political environment to work in, Rarely get appreciated for the job you do

Good Company
Pathology Lab Tech Aide (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 1, 2016
Over all the company is great. Networking is great as well. However, management is horrible. People are given positions just because of who they know instead of what they know. It is also an micro-managed. It's an fast paced environment. However if you do not know something, speak up. Learning is something you cannot be afraid of doing. As the world grows, so do the different objectives in the workplace.

Histotechnician (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMarch 28, 2016
I consider it an acceptable place to work with room for advancement, even if through transfer. Pretty good benefits, including HSA and FSA accounts. Medical, dental, and vision plans. Pension plan after five years of employment, fully vested with no employee contribution.
