Working at Northwest Airlines

Hi. I've applied at the call center here in Sioux City, had a very good telephone interview and have a face-to-face interview on Monday. The phone interview seemed very interested on my ability to learn new things and impliment them, as well as experience dealing with customers (both of which I have in spades). I also mentioned my experience in computers. Right now, I've taken the initiative and gotten some written references to take to the f2f, including from fellow employees, some distributors I dealt with at work, and even a couple of customers. I've seen the comments in the Flight Attendent thread about how at the f2f you were told at the end if you had it. Does anyone have any experience with the Call center type of process? Believe me, my background check is clean and drug test would be cleaner yet. Or any thoughts from experienced employees on what my chances could be? many thanks :)

OK, has this happened to anyone else?? I started my application process at least six months ago. I did the phone interview thing then the face to face interview but was not hired on the spot. I actually got a phone call on April 23rd, six weeks later, and was told I was selected and offered the position as flight attendant. However, the last training class was april 29th and already full. I am one of 62 people waiting for the merger before they re-start the training class. My offer of employment is frozen until the merge. OMG!!! I got hired but did not???? Is anyone else in the same boat? I have researched some stuff and it looks like nothing will happen for a while. The offer is valid for one year. Does anyone have any more information on the freeze or when there will be any new training class scheduled?

After talking with a recruiter on the phone for some time, how long does it usually take to hear if they are intererested in you. I see all the postings but wonder why the jobs are not filled. Any feedback would be greatful.

Here is what I would recommend.... Spiral notebook - a 5 subject college ruled. Trust me, if you take notes, you will need all of the paper in the notebook. Highlighters - a few different colors The stickers that you can put on paper that "save" the holes that are punched into paper. You will need them to use in your manual because you may accidentally rip a page out half way and the paper hole will break A zipper pouch that you can put in a binder so you can store stuff in your manual (pencils, those stickers) Pencils for tests Pens so you can take notes Folder or accordian folder to keep handouts. You will get TONS of dead trees to keep track of. A backpack or tote bag to keep all of this stuff, you may also want it to be big enough to carry your lunch. A sweater cause the building was always cold. (Now that I wrote that, the building will be HOT) For the apartment: Hangers - you only get like 10, if you are lucky. You can also buy 20 hangers for around $2 at target Lunchbox - lunch in the building is expensive and isn't that great Be prepared to buy detergent, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, cleaning products/fluids, trash bags. There is a vacuum and mop. There are also pots and pans. Gladware type stuff to put lunches in A travel coffee mug if you need caffeine to function Clothes - You won't need as much casual wear as you think that you need. In all honesty, you get one day off a week and the last thing that you seem to want to do is go out for a drunken night because you spend the next day wiped out. We all seemed to go to dinner different places on Saturday night and Sunday was "errand" day. A few went out, but it was the young pups and even they only did it once or twice. Bring a nice business suit, something professional, you will wear that the first day. Jeans are allowed a few days, no holes or anything like that. No sweatshirts that day or tee's. They do watch what you are wearing.
