Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation Skin Cancer and Laser Unit

Summary
We are seeking a patient procedure scheduler with outstanding oral and written communication skills for the skin cancer and laser surgery unit in the Department of Dermatology at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

Job Description
The position entails scheduling and managing complex surgical patients, including those presenting for skin cancer, laser and cosmetic procedures. The appropriate individual will have a highly professional, warm, and customer service oriented focus, combined with outstanding written and oral communication skills. The new hire will work with a friendly, collaborative, and mutually supportive team of expert schedulers. The scheduling unit supports a nationally prominent dermatologic surgery unit that treats patients, performs
research, and trains young surgeons.

Specific Tasks
Specific job functions will include scheduling new outpatient consultations, appointments and procedures promptly and courteously; providing patients with detailed instructions regarding pending procedures and ensuring that relevant clinical documentation is available to the attending physician before the procedure; managing telephone calls and helping resolve patient problems; communicating with referring physicians and their offices in a timely manner and in a way that best meets their needs; obtaining and verifying insurance information; cross-training as a patient service representative, registering, checking in and checking out patients. Additional duties will include various functions to support the scheduling unit and to ensure an outstanding patient experience.

Educational and Employment Requirements
Experience in scheduling is desirable but not required. Outstanding schedulers, as well as outstandingly motivated, friendly, and skilled individuals in other fields are encouraged to apply. A minimum of 2 years job experience in related field is required. A bachelor's degree of equivalent experience is also required.
