Norton Healthcare takes care of people in the land of horse farms and blue grass. The company owns and operates five hospitals and manages numerous additional health care facilities in Kentucky and southern Indiana. Specialty services include cancer treatment, women's health, orthopedics, and heart care. Its Norton Hospital is a 720-bed facility in – more... Louisville that serves as a teaching facility for the University of Louisville. Other facilities include Norton Audubon Hospital, Norton Suburban Hospital, and Norton Brownsboro Hospital. One of the largest health care systems in Kentucky, Norton Healthcare has a dozen urgent care clinics and more than 90 physician practice locations.
Operations
Norton Healthcare has an affiliation with Lexington-based UK Healthcare through which the two systems collaborate on clinical programs as well as share workforce resources, and education, and research funds.
It also operates the 130-bed Brownsboro Hospital campus that includes private patient rooms and improved emergency, surgical, and imaging technologies and its Kosair Children's Hospital is Kentucky's only free-standing, full-service children's hospital.
For those patients requiring immediate care, but nothing so serious as to require an emergency room visit, Norton Healthcare operates about a dozen care centers providing physician and urgent care services in area communities.
Strategy
Norton Healthcare expands through organic growth. In 2012 it broke ground on the new Norton Women's Hospital and Kosair Children's Hospital - St. Matthews, which will provide a full range of services to women and children from a single location. The prior year it opened The MS Center and Norton Neurology Services home, focused on support and services for multiple sclerosis patients. – less
