RN, West Bloomfield Township, MI - November 24, 2015
I worked for this facility for two years starting a few months after it opened. It was a great place to work initially, with an all RN staff, very professional. Most of e the staff came aboard with many years of experience in ICU, ER, wound care, chemotherapy, and other specialties. The staff tried to work together to provide a good environment for patients and staff. However this facility is not like most rehab faciltys due to its high number of admits and other factors. Management has not been able to resolve these issues and staff started leaving. After two years most of the original nursing staff has been replaced by LPNs, most of whom are fresh out of school. Management has also changed. The old management at least tried to be fair and fix issues. The new management has different interests. Now the staff has broken down into factions and for many staff being 30 min or more late daily, long breaks, lots of trips outside to smoke, then complain that they cannot get their work done is a daily routine. Most of the day and afternoon shift refuse to process orders as they do not consider it their job. Those who do work find the workload overwhelming and are unable to handle everything which has piled up, sometimes for days. After complaining to the new management regarding these issues on several occasions the response from management is "you are wrong, that doesn't happen here," and "you must be exaggerating," "your complaining is unprofessional." Really?
