Company went downhill with changes
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Manhattan, NYNovember 20, 2014
A once dynamic work environment drastically changed alongside the pharma industry the past 5-10 years. Numerous cuts to field sales forces and development programs. Loss of primary care products to blame. Specialty (Oncology) has a bright future and is the place to be within company.

Great place to work for the 24 years I was there.
Executive Territory Mgr (Former Employee), San Diego, CANovember 19, 2014
Sadly, It really doesn't matter too much how they were, since Novartis Corp. sold the entire global assets of the Animal Health Division to Elanco Animal Health. Subsequent to that, Sentinel, their flagship antiparasitic product was again sold to Virbac Corp. due to U.S Govt. Antitrust regulations.
the transactions become effective December 1, 2014 and Novartis Animal Health will cease to exist.

First shift kicks off at 6:30am. All of us fall into place and have our own responsibilities. Break @ 9am.....then lunch around 12:00. Loud noise on the theraflu line.l You better have ear plugs. It's great when the machines run as expected. We fly right through an order. At the end of the shop order we recap and get ready for the next run of Theraflu.

Thoroughly enjoyed working as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Novartis. Was with the company for 14 years.
Executive Neuroscience Specialist (Former Employee), New JerseySeptember 25, 2014
A typical day would include analyzing data to determine market trends and physician prescribing habits, preparing my call schedule, pre-call planning, clinical presentations to physicians and post call planning. My position also required developing thought leaders to be speakers, planning speaking events and conducting breakfast or lunch programs with physicians. My managers over the years have taught me so much about sales. The hardest part of the job was getting products on formulary at the teaching institutions. The most enjoyable was seeing the results of my hard work.

Psychiatry Account Management - West Region Lead (Former Employee), East Hanover, NJAugust 25, 2014
Pros: developement opportunities for top performers
Cons: job security is tenuous
You will succeed at Novartis by being a Top Performer.
Performance is the driver in this organization that is very controlled by the Swiss.
It is an impersonal organization from a senior leadership level, but at local management the culture is supportive.
This company is going through a lot of change and reorganization and is more about the Share price than their people.
