About NYC Alliance

The New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYCEJA) is an umbrella organization comprised of member groups based in low-income communities throughout New York City. Founded in 1991 by environmental activists in New York's low-income communities of color, NYCEJA became a 501(c) (3) corporation in 1995. NYCEJA co-powers its member organizations – more... to fight against environmental injustice by the coordination of citywide campaigns. NYCEJA helps to hold together the New York City Environmental Justice Movement. Through our efforts member organizations coalesce around specific issues which threaten the ability for low income communities of color to thrive. Our focus on larger impacts helps to foster improved member relationships among grassroots groups. NYCEJA works in partnership with its member groups and other organizations from every sector of society. It helps to support the local work that community-based organizations are already doing by coordination of advocacy efforts, contacts and introductions, and by helping to replicate projects and activities that have proven successful in one or multilple communities. NYCEJA is led by the grass-roots groups that it serves. NYCEJA's board is comprised of executive directors of its member organizations, who set policy and guide program development. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
