I loved New York. Found the city exciting and challenging. Loved the energy of the city. Would recommend the lower east side as a great slice of the city.

Graduate Student Researcher (Former Employee), New York, NY –
Pros: happy hour every friday!
My program was pretty great. All the administrators knew me by name, so they had a vested interest in my success as a graduate student. My P.I. was a great mentor in that he challenged me, but also allowed me the independence I needed to really learn the importance of what I was doing, rather than just going through the motions. Overall, a wonderful – more...  experience. – less

Great environment which promotes learning through everyday tasks and activities
Executive Assistant (Former Employee), New York, NY –
Pros: lovely building, friendly staff
Cons: none to report
Recently, I was awarded with a great temp opportunity at NYU. I must say I have no regrets for accepting the offer. The staff are great to work with, the environment is very busy (never a dull moment) - the whole aura at NYU is astounding.

Favoritism and Nepotism Rule
Associate Staff (Former Employee), 14 Wall Street –
Cons: "emotional lash"
I joined NYU in 2003 months before their demerger from Mount Sinai.
I was gratified to join a hospital as reputable as NYU. I thought this would be my last stop. I would put in my years and retire. Thanks to a nefarious directress it didn't work out that way. My experience with NYU was not pleasant everyday I waged silent wars of emotion with a handpicked – more...  manager that dressed more like a hardware store clerk. Despite my productivity it was not enough to spare me from the axe. I may have been happy 1 year out of 7 years and 3 months employed there. This may not happen to everyone but I know for certain there is a lot of favoritism and discrimination in the finance department especially if you're male Hispanic. – less
