Job Title: Ocean Freight Traffic Coordinator

Job Summary: Coordinate and manage freight from various domestic and foreign suppliers to/from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean

Essential Qualifications
1) Excellent hands-on working knowledge of US Domestic freight transportation via truck, rail, rail piggyback, airfreight and ocean freight. (Experience in shipping to Dominican Republic is a PLUS.)
2) Working knowledge of cross-dock, freight consolidation, container loading and port dray operations
3) Experience in ocean freight documentation, filing electronic AES Entries, etc
4) Experience in import and export from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean
5) Ability to perform freight cost analysis, read ocean rates, harmonized classifications, and complete bills of ladings
6) Excellent knowledge of handling time and temperature sensitive package goods and produce shipments
7) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (Prefer bilingual English & Spanish)

Duties and Responsibilities
1) Review purchase orders in the system to determine weekly scheduling of activity and movement of all perishable purchase orders
2) Follow established guidelines and process inbound shipments via cross-dock faculties
3) Determine shipment origin points and set up pickup plans
4) Follow up daily, weekly and monthly pending shipments and meet the required purchase order service levels and inventory balances
5) Communicate shipment information and transit issues internally and externally with buyers, product suppliers and transportation suppliers
6) Direct scheduling of shipments with Suppliers, truckers, warehouses, brokers, ship companies and buyers
7) Update Systems with shipment data and produce all required documents for AES, US Customs, Shipping Companies etc

Education and Experience
1) Technical training in Traffic/Transportation, US Customs, or related field is a PLUS
2) Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in transportation
3) One (1) year of Import & Export freight and documentation
4) Excellent computer skills, use of Excel, Word and Data Entry Systems

Language Skills
1) Ability to read, analyze and interpret transportation and purchasing documents
2) Require good English verbal and writing skills
3) Prefer bilingual English & Spanish

Mathematical Skills
1) Ability to calculate figures and amounts with percentages, area and volume
Leadership and reasoning skills
1) Ability to resolve practical operational problems and deal with a variety of variables and situations that require the cooperation of many individuals to get the work completed on time within budget
