Would not recomment this place to anyone, too much govt red tape
Sensor Systems Research & Development (Former Employee) –  Oak Ridge, TNSeptember 1, 2014
Too much govt involvement for me. For every one person working there is at least 4 people watching you. Countless govt regulations...

Its pretty good, but busy as always with a post-doc. I would recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity as there are plenty of collaborations to start, so publications are easy to come by.

A typical day involved scanning in resumes, planning for events, attending career events. The environment is very diverse, opening, and friendly.

Way too many Human Resource people work @ ORNL. What a waste of tax payer money. Furthermore they are uneducated people in Human resources as the lab itself.

It is a good place for research. There are a lot of chances to communicate with top research scientists. Work load is a little high. And security level in the lab is high.

ORNL Worker (Current Employee) –  Oak Ridge, TNApril 19, 2013
If you do your job you won't have to worry about losing it. The bureaucracy is ridiculously bad. There are very few opportunities for advancement.

Totally agree with above. Even if you don't do your job, Just create your own, as most employee's do there at ORNL! IT IS A MONEY PIT for TAXPAYERS! Too much middle management also!

HERE fellow (Current Employee) –  Oak Ridge, TNJune 2, 2015
The most enjoyable part of the job was the hands-on nature of the science performed here. It allows you to know that you had a real impact upon the project that you work on.
