Great Place Overall
Account Executive (Current Employee) –  Stamford, ConnecticutDecember 9, 2017
Truly a great company to work for especially if you take the time to get to know your fellow employees. The people there are amazing and make coming into work everyday the best incentive. Client work is engaging and exciting especially if you are on the right team, but there is availability to help out other divisions if the opportunity to comes along and works for your schedule. There are some aspects like pay and politics that make it a not ideal place to work depending on your office location. While they have a solid ground work to get employees in the door it does not necessarily keep them their for more than a couple years especially when it comes to the younger generation of employees.
Pros
The people you work with, diversity of client work, opportunity to engage on projects outside of your team's objectives
Cons
Salary

Relaxed agency with average pay
Account Manager (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GANovember 19, 2017
The company is a very relaxed agency setting that provides a good work/life balance. They offer a variety of office outings to help build team chemistry. However, the pay is average and there is a very poor bonus structure setup. Not to mention, a total lack of employee reviews or goal setting.

Great owner. Really cares about his employees. High standards. Great people. It's a someone's nasty job but the end results are worth it. I recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible Place
Account Executive Trainee (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXAugust 13, 2017
Company showed favoritism and did not spread out equal opportunities among employees. Although hotel accommodations where above standard, travel was extensive and you worked most holidays.

Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Huntersville, NCMarch 25, 2017
Work hard, play hard. Octagon is a great place to start your career. They offer lots of tools (training classes, guest speakers, etc...) to help you develop your skill set, however, your actual career advancement may be a bit more challenging depending on the account you work on.

Good company, great people and a lot of perks with work, low compensation and long hours. Octagon gives the opportunity to work with several corporate brands and get great account management and client service experience.

Good to start your career, but not for the long haul
Senior Account Executive (Current Employee) –  Rogers, ARNovember 16, 2015
Depending on your account it can be a very fun position. It's great to start out your career because you get some great experience. Like most sports marketing positions pay is not great. I do feel like they struggle to train new talent. It's very much a sink or swim mentality.
Pros
Fun Young Culture
Cons
Low pay

Large agency that can provide great experience
Senior Account Executive, Events and Hospitality (Current Employee) –  Norwalk, CTAugust 31, 2015
Octagon is a large agency that has great clients. It offers people who are new to the industry great opportunities to learn the business of sports marketing. However the way they treat their employees in some cases is not the best, being a large agency sometimes good quality work is overlooked.

Old School sports agency - very traditional
Account Director (Current Employee) –  Norwalk, CTMay 6, 2015
Big name clients, lots of opportunities to work on interesting projects and a foot in the door in the sports industry.

Very traditional and homogenous culture - being a cultural fit is more important than performance. Does not pay well.
Pros
healthcare, Pto, summer Fridays, big name clients
Cons
fitting in is more important, homogenous
