We are looking for a Sr. SQL Developer with a minimum 5 years of on the job experience. This is a challenging position and will require a senior level of SQL server development. We have multiple SQL servers, 100s of databases, 1000s of stored procedures and millions of records. Also, we need to add some performance tuning and normalization (and some instances de-normalization) into the application; with the amount of transactions and records we are dealing with we need someone that understand the intricacies of SQL server and how best to interact with the database (from number of calls to fine-tuning the logic in the procs, etc.) to get the best performance out of the SQL servers.

In addition to the experience we are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills as they will be working closely with other Office Ally team members (e.g., Project Manager, Analysts and Programmers) Other skills required are the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to change priorities without frustration and without compromising the integrity and quality of their assigned projects! A person who holds themselves accountable and sets their self expectations higher than anyone else's will be welcome here!

Essential Functions

  • Database design
  • Database migration
  • Database performance tuning/normalization
  • Ability to take a project from concept and design a SDLC to guide the project to completion
  • Working with large clients to build enterprise level solutions on existing applications
  • Assisting analysts to come up with the technical designs to complete the Project Requirement Document (PRD) and assign to developer(s)
  • Communicating with Project Managers and analysts to formulate the technical requirements of a project
  • Coding "Frameworks" and "Engines" and handing to developers to use to complete projects
  • Troubleshooting issues at the production level and quickly resolve the problem
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other developers -- provide a roadmap to complete the task at hand

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of SQL Server 2005
  • 5+ years experience designing and creating webpages and usercontrols in ASP.NET (VB.NET preferred)
  • 5+ years working in a Lead role with a team of 3+ members on a .NET project
  • 3+ years experience with javascript designing .NET webpages to streamline user experience and decrease server side code
  • 3+ years experience with large data import and data mapping
  • 3+ years troubleshooting and resolving issues at the production level (issues directly affecting clients)
  • 2+ years producing technical design documentation for developers
  • 2+ years experience working with n-tiered systems
  • Experience with code unification (taking different coding by different developers and standardizing the code base
  • Strong Analytical skills -- pays attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, can translate details both on the analyst side as well as the programming side.
  • Responsible and takes pride in their work; taking ownership of a project and seeing it throughout the SDLC
  • Ability to work a minimum schedule of Mon-Fri, 8a-5p. (There may also be some production SQL server monitoring aspects of the job)
  • Ability to verbally describe technical designs on the spot -- e.g., when confronted with a design question, verbally articulate the lines of code, functions and subroutines necessary to create the design
