Field Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Clearfield, PAJanuary 29, 2017
I stared with Oil States before the acquisition of Well Testing Inc. We all feared the worst but in the end we were surprised with the way management handled the merger. Still a great company with smart managers today.
Pros
Great benefits, plenty of time off, and great managers.

Good Job
Tool 1 Operator (Former Employee) –  Cameron, OKJanuary 11, 2017
The pay and benefits were great. Even though you would be out of town for 1 to 3 weeks, you would normally get at least a week at home before being sent out of town again.

Awesome job, just no room for advancement.
Corporate Sales and Marketing Manager (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXJanuary 9, 2017
Nothing bad to say about Oil States or Baker Hughes. Just want to move up within the company. Usual work day was 10 hours and managed 80 salesman across the US in 6 different regional locations. Hardest part was the crash and having to lay off 40% of the sales team.
Pros
company vechile, stock options
Cons
advancement

Wireline admin assistant/DOT Cordinator. (Former Employee) –  Midland, TXDecember 9, 2016
Unfortunately with the drop in the oil I was laid off from this job. Would love to return but will always give whatever company I work for 110%. This company understands personal life as well as work. They offer great benefits, and a chance to advance in the company. Provided good wages, steady hours and occasional overtime during holiday seasons.
Pros
Great management
Cons
Some of the employees

Valve Technician (Current Employee) –  Berthoud, CODecember 1, 2016
There is no way to move up in the company unless your friends with the right person. HR is pro management so low and mid level employees are ignored all the way around. Most of management has no idea what they are doing.
Pros
It's a paycheck
Cons
Management lies

The only bad thing that comes to mind when I think of Oil States, is the fact that you can be laid off when the natural resource market plummets. Other than that, anyone would be selling themselves short not working for this company.
Pros
too many to list
Cons
can be a cut throat industry

This company is a good company to work for. They care about their employees and the work/life/family balance. I was able to learn many things at this company and the best part of the job was the friends I made.

Field Supervisor 2 (Former Employee) –  Rock Springs, WYJuly 2, 2015
Oil States just looks at all of there employees as numbers. They are the most impersonal employer I have ever had. The co-workers were good. Management was the worst.
