Good money and benefits if you are willing to travel
Operator (Current Employee), Casper, WYAugust 23, 2014
Pros: pay (when theres work) and benefits
Cons: incompetent management, time spent traveling
Lots of driving. Inconsistent work. Will be away from home for 3 months then sitting at the house for 3 months. Impossible to predict a schedule. Great pay and benefits. Incompetent mid level management. Poor management of equipment and people. High level management wants to be like Halliburton so bad they will steam roll their employees to do it. LOTS – more... of ups and downs. Co workers range from well qualified, competent and productive workers to complete basket cases. Bad dose of the buddy system, at least in my district there is. Keep your head down, don't step on the wrong toes, and try to become buddies with the management and you'll go far at Oil States. – less

Established company with steady workflow.
Lead Lact Builder (Current Employee), Midland, TXNovember 15, 2013
Pros: paid lunches and company vehicles for team leaders
Cons: limited upward mobility and noncompetitive wages
A typical day begins with a brief encounter with team leaders, including lead welder, purchaser and supervisor to assure a smooth transition of all phases of production. Time sheets are made for each team member to follow for that particular day. Management is loose and often times suffers from lack of communication. Co-workers are cohesive and work – more... well together. The most difficult part of the position is dealing with deadlines and consumer demands, which translates to working late nights and weekends. Working hard and meeting our designated quota at the end of the month is always the most satisfactory part of my position. – less

Great Place to work.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Conway, ARJune 16, 2013
Pros: great atmosphere to work.
Cons: i cannot find anything to write that would be a negative statement concerning this company
People are very friendly and make you want to come to work. Casual dress and relaxed environment. A very good work atmosphere. With the relaxed atmosphere you can accomplish a lot of work in one day. Team work is at play here. you do your job and you are a part of the team.

good place to work. they just need to pay their bills and get better managers.
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Midland, TXFebruary 26, 2013
Pros: good job security for this industry, nice amount of customers, and great pay for fiels operators
Cons: dont pay their bills, not so great pay in managerment positions, and higher up management is incompadent
Everyday is a little different. Start the day off with getting an update on in-use equipment. See what we need to make the incoming jobs happen, then...... we make it happen. I learned how to deal with the stress of the work load and how to manage all the incoming jobs better. The management is hit or miss. Some managers within the company do a great – more... job. But you also have some really incompadent people running district into the ground. The hardest part of the job is keeping all the jobs covered with little equipment and also dealing with all the late night callls. I would say the most enjoyable part of the job is working with all different kinds of people. I have learned a ton of information from all the different co-workers I have had the liberty of working with. – less

If you have another way to make a living do that.
Tool Operator (Current Employee), COJanuary 21, 2013
Pros: nice people on front line.
Cons: leadership is exactly what you read about in wall street journal.
This company treats people with very little respect. The local people are OK but the remote management is only concerned with profit. There is no attempt to build something that will be around long term. They are riding the oil boom, and people are just a cost.

Tool Operator (Current Employee), Williston, NDMay 30, 2012
Pros: $$$
Cons: time away from family
Long hours of monitoring, rigging up tools and valves. Managment plays favorites not equal in job distribution. Co-workers some extremely lazy others great work ethic. Hardest part of job is traveling for weeks on end and time away from the family. Most enjoyable part is the $$$.
