It was fine. I was a student worker so it was oriented more towards me completing my schoolwork than the advancement of the "company"

Friendly coworkers and plenty of opportunities to gain experience
Housekeeper (Current Employee), Norfolk, VAMarch 13, 2014
Pros: friendly coworkers, helpful supervisors, constantly changing environment, challenging
Cons: sometimes a little unorganized, slight lack of communication
I get to work at 6 AM, Monday through Friday. The first thing I do is sign out my keys and radio, and check my mailbox to see if I have any supply orders from building supervisors. After that, I drive a truck around campus and pick up garbage from designated locations. Next, I go to my assigned buildings, empty trash cans, clean the bathrooms, and clean – more... the offices and other rooms. Once I'm finished with my buildings, I go to the warehouse and complete my orders, and spend the rest of the day check trash around campus.

I learned some new cleaning techniques, how to use a few machines, and I also gained some material management experience so far. Management has really helped teach me everything I need to do to perform this job successfully. My coworkers are very friendly and have also helped me adapt and learn since I've started working here.

The hardest part of my job is also the most enjoyable part of my job. With the constant changes that occur, I am expected to continuously adapt and learn quickly. This makes the job challenging, but it is also very rewarding. Leaving work each day, knowing that I have done something to make a difference, is what makes this job great. – less

Higher Education
Office Manager (Current Employee), Norfolk, VAFebruary 17, 2014
The availability to advance your own education, with supervisor approval and appropriate HR paperwork, is a good benefit to working here.

Most enjoyable part of my day is knowing that we've helped students, alumni or community members every time someone visits, calls, or reaches out to us on social media.

The job can be very rewarding as the students are energetic. Yet a clear work-lie-balance supported by the University leadership is necessary to ensure not being coming burnt out.

Productive workplace with a healthy working environment
Network Analyst (Former Employee), Chesapeake, VAJanuary 31, 2014
Pros: good learning experience. helpful employees.
Cons: short breaks, non consistent working hours.
As an intern, I was given most of the menial tasks about the office. I would run cable management as well as verify system configurations for network integrity. Other times I would be taking inventory of networking equipment or troubleshooting networking problems on campus. I learned quite a bit about network management as well as configuration standards – more... for Cisco Systems. My co-workers were always around to explain how to operate/configure certain systems. The hardest part of the job was moving the servers from the storage area to the Data Center, though heavy lifting is part of the job description. The most enjoyable part of the job was being given the chance to learn new things about the networking industry. – less
