friendly staff and very sales driven workplace with a knowledgeable management team.
Teller (Current Employee), Terre Haute, IN – March 1, 2013
Processing transactions for a variety of customers. The customer base is usually very warm and friendly. My management team are all very good, they are knowledgeable about the many different products and sales techniques. I really enjoy all of my co-workers, we are all like a little family. The hardest part of my job would be the sales. I am not really – more... as sales driven as others so I believe that is why it is a struggle for me. My most enjoyable aspect would have to be the customers! I enjoy waiting on the different people that come in. They all have a different story to tell you and sometimes you can gain a little wisdom from some of them! – less
Professional (Current Employee), Columbus – January 5, 2013
Pros: not very busy any more
Cons: upset customers every day
We have been buying up other local banks and our service is so poor, it is really embarrassing now to tell people who I work for.
We hold money long than any other bank in town and charge our clients many outrageous fees, I spend more time closing accounts than I ever have in years. Everyone is unhappy.
I felt watched and uncomfortable, management was very unprofessional.
Teller (Former Employee), Terre Haute, IN – September 26, 2012
Pros: free bank account
Cons: gossip, no breaks, not being allowed to get paid for a shift that was to end at 515, but you were there until 5:45, you weren't allowed to put the extra 30 min. in.
a typical day would consist of getting yelled at about what rules you didn't even know existed. They don't apply the same rules to every customer so it was very difficult to learn the job with all the special "exceptions they were making. There was a lot of gossip with the co- workers. The hardest part of my job were selling products such as accounts – more... that the bank offered because of all the outrageous fees that they charge for everything. – less
personal banker (Former Employee), indiana – August 30, 2012
Pros: pay was ok in beginning, some small "perks"
Cons: zero respect from management, no honesty with what was ever actually going on, favortism, severely unequal work load
In the short time I was with this company, I saw unfair treatment including termination without just cause of many employees which doesn't seem to fit with the supposed ethics and mission of old national whatsoever. Maybe it was just my region but there is too much secrecy, playing favorites, sexism and general lack of morals or concern for most employees – more... and not enough appreciation, pay, promotion from within, recognition, respect or customer service and client care. This company does have the power to be great but it doesn't seem to care about its most precious resource- the overworked, underpaid, over-qualified, loyal employees who actually care about the clients and aren't just there for a paycheck. It seems to me that promotions are giving to those who can ruthlessly trample over their colleagues (to the point of lying and destroying somebody else's career) or the completely unqualified person who knows somebody important. So these are the people usually running our branches even though all they want is the title and money meanwhile their employees are doing all the work and getting completely overlooked. I hope for the companys sake the associates that are a little higher in the food chain will notice what is going on on the branches and realize why their company is getting terrible reviews from customers. Stop overlooking the people that are actually doing the work, following the rules and get zero respect because you are losing all the good ones to other banks. – less
Personal Banker (Former Employee), Indianapolis, IN – August 6, 2012
Pros: example: free lunches, etc.
Cons: example: short breaks, healthcare, etc.
Handled cash drawer daily as well as assisted clients with new accounts. My co-workers were all great to work with and I had the chance to build relationships with the bank clients.
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Terre Haute, IN – July 22, 2012
Pros: great staff
Cons: low pay, high cost of benefits, mgmt doesn't allow 40 hours per work week
I like that at Old National that we work as a team. There has been several times that we have worked short, but it pulls us together. Team work is the most important aspect in a work place setting. It gives us that family like aspect.
CSR (Current Employee), owensboro ky – April 23, 2012
Pros: pay, customers
Cons: hostile and stressful atmosphere, lack of supervision
This branch has high turnover, stressful working conditions, employees are backstabbing and vendictive, manager looks the other way to avoid conflict. Maybe since they're getting a new manager things will improve.
Adecco Temporary assignment (Former Employee), Evansville, IN – March 29, 2012
Pros: nice work space, good equipment, casual dress, nice breakroom facilities
Cons: limited communication w/supervisors, no positive feedback, no explanation of the "why" behind our assignments
We were assigned to projects related to the recent acquisition of a local bank. Our assignments were related to due diligence tasks in the loan department. I started with three other people from the temp agency on the same day and we worked on the same projects as a team. Management did not always have a plan for us and would have us fill-in on other – more... tasks to give us "something to do" until they could get larger tasks organized. We were never made to feel part of the department and our last day went without notice. – less
