Oldcastle is a great company.
Plant Manager (Current Employee) –  Glade Spring, VAMay 23, 2017
Oldcastle in general is a great company to work for. The companies that Oldcastle owns retain their own company rules and regulations and as long as a profit is shown and no one gets hurt you don't hear much from Oldcastle.
Management does fail to recognize dedicated and hard working employees, but are critical when something goes wrong, I really think there needs to be a balance of both negative and positive.
Oldcastle insists all operations must run safe and safety is top priority. That is an excellent fundamental, but its not followed and short cuts are taken to meet numbers that are demanded.
If all companies owned by Oldcastle would truly operate under Oldcastle fundamentals it would be a 5 star company.

Friendly place to work
Heavy Forklift Operator (Temp. position) (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXMay 8, 2017
Could be a great job if you don't mind it being like a second home. Starts out slow, but they periodically increase your hours, and work load. Friendly place, but they seem to like to get away with as little manpower as possible. Wouldn't have been so bad if not for my young kids, but they start to expect you to be doing 2 or 3 jobs with only 1 worth of pay. Was not told this. Just kept asking to either stay a little later, or come in earlier. Until they make it your schedule. Couldn't work almost 12hr days Mon-Fri and half a day on Saturday. Overtime money would be good, but not fair to my kids.

Horrible communication
Don't move anywhere in company or get raises unless you are in the "In group"
They pile tons of work on you but don't compensate.

System Administrator (Current Employee) –  Sandy Springs, GAApril 29, 2017
At Oldcastle, we thrived on a sense of collaboration. It was not uncommon to have Network Admins and System Admins at the same table. The changes were discussed at length and this open dialogue created a great environment.

General Manager (Former Employee) –  Butler, WI 53007April 24, 2017
Managed a full service glass manufacturing & distribution facility with 24 full time employees. Encompassing; Customer Service, Sales, Office, Purchasing, HR, Safety, Production, Shipping & Receiving, Quality Control and Drivers.

Annual budget targets (sales & PBIT) were consistently achieved or surpassed due to team work.

There was an open door policy between myself & employees.

I reported directly to the Central President. The management was accessible and open to suggestions from all GM's.

It was a fun place to work and at the same time getting the job done.
I can honestly say it was one of the best places I have ever worked at.
Pros
Company bonus depending on yearly sales.
Cons
Many company meetings out of state.

I don't feel it would be appropriate to leave a review of my employer at this time. In the future I may return and leave one when it is appropriate to do so.
