Switchboard Receptionist/Secretary (Former Employee), New Haven, CTSeptember 3, 2014
This is the same position I've written about twice already. I believe there may be a mixup in how many times this position has come up. Please refer to my original statement regarding the 1995
Special Olympics World Games.

Excellent training, committed workers, seriousness of purpose, strong record of hiring, strong mentoring.
Chief Researcher (Former Employee), New York, NYSeptember 19, 2013
This group at CBS was organized into departments, with some stronger than others. I was in a supportive group, with top-notch leadership, expectations, mentoring skills, willingness to provide exposure, and responsibility. It was crucial to personal and industry development. While the hours could stretch to 20-hour days and the pay was minimal, the – more... experience was that which launched careers. . – less

Great Experience, productive
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee), London, LeytonJuly 31, 2014
Pros: free lunch, light work loads on some days
Cons: travel distance, food quality
being able to work with a vast amount of multi-ethnic people who have all come together in one place was exceptional. some of us spoke different languages or had different views on topics but in the end, we were all still able to complete our daily tasks given to us. even the division of labor was managed to an extent where there was no task left un-attended, – more... it really was a good learning experience. the hardest part about the job was having to move goods from the outdoor freezers to the inside of the warehouse due to the fact that some products were scattered, so locating specific items was no easy task. – less

team leader (Former Employee), londonJuly 22, 2014
Pros: free lunch
Cons: long hours
a typical day at work used to be to get a team ready and take them to the search area and then all the spectators used to walk through the search area and we used to search them as a team and have good communication between us so we don't let any unwanted item into the stadiums. I learned a lot of thing like the correct way to search someone and to – more... get the security badge i done lots of different training and then to get the team leader position i went trough further training. Cant really say much about the co-workers because i used to have different workers every days. Didn't really find this job hard at all. And the best part was to meet different people everyday and to have a good conversation with them. – less

Safety Steward (Former Employee), London, ENGJune 27, 2014
Pros: free lunches, free water
Cons: long hours, standing up all day.
Worked for the olympics for about a month. Had to start work at 1pm and finished work very late at night. When starting work we had to put on our uniforms. After wearing our uniforms our supervisors use to send us to our own destinations which we had to look after. It was mainly the cyclist that we had to watch and not allow people to enter the track. – more... The management was very disciplined and strict which made us serious at our job. The hardest part of the job was long hours but the most enjoyable part was being a part of the olympics. – less

Catering Assistant (Former Employee), London, ENGJanuary 26, 2014
Pros: free lunch
Cons: early morning
A fairly straight forward job with a good team that gave me experience in selling goods to customers at an event that is world renown. I really enjoyed the atmosphere that the Olympics brought along with friendly nature that people had. The hardest part of the job was dealing with angry customers. Overall it was a brilliant experience that showed me – more... the behind the scenes of catering at events. – less

Full Time Server/Supervisor (Former Employee), Stratford, East LondonDecember 7, 2013
Pros: free lunch, good salary/working conditions, good security, meeting athletes
Cons: long hours, working at quick a pace, switching position e.g. kitchen, serving and cleaning
Being a team member at a restaurant within the Olympic Park was a great experience as it was a good opportunity to experience the working life.I was able to be in a good working environment where it was fun and enjoyable and easy to work with people of different cultures and background.

Working in the athletes village in the Olympic park was exciting – more... as I had the opportunity of meeting and serving the athletes in the athletes dining hall. I had the capability of carrying out my job professionally and maintaining a good performance.
There was good management within the restaurant as well as carrying out my duties. The difficulty faced whilst working there was having to work at a quick pace during rush hours. – less

CSAS/ Superviser (Former Employee), London, ENGJuly 23, 2013
Pros: free lunches
Cons: parking
a typical day started from 5 till 7 in the evening. to register and then each person got venues which they were working on and at the venues my responsibility was to make sure everything keeps on going on without any mess-ups such as traffic is floating make sure everyone is up to scratch with what they have to do and of course breaks were given on – more... time, sometimes I was working as CSAS and other where I was supervising the area. If there was a problem that I couldn't handle then I will radio in with the management which would guide me on what to do. I learned to be able to work in a stressful situation by being patent. my co-workers were excellent in helping me deliver my job as well as there on. The hardest part of the job was when I got short stuffed and the whether didn't help either. The most enjoyable part of my job was I got meet new people and some which were famous athletes who were really friendly. – less

Event Coordinator (Former Employee), London, ENGJuly 9, 2013
Although the days were long and arduous at times, the experience I gained was second-to-none. I was surrounded by an incredible team of co-workers and would not have made it through the three weeks without their help and support. We loved one another as family and got on as one as well. I learned how to interact with individuals from all over the world – more... (literally) and how to plan and execute a large-scale event. – less

Busy but fun working environment
sales assistant (Former Employee), CopperBox arena, StratfordApril 15, 2013
Pros: watching events in the arena you worked in.
Cons: peak periods were extremely busy and non stop running around.
I was part of a strong 6 member team that was in charge of running the Retail shop within the Copper box arena. Daily duties included serving customers over the tills, stock maintenance and cashing in.

hardest part of the job was halftime during packed games, this would mean customers would come to the shop to purchase souvenirs. these periods were – more... extrememly busy to the point that we had to call in extra staff from other arenas to help out. it was very fast paced and required one to keep calm and proffessional which i believe i excelled at.

the most enjoyable part was the atmosphere and environment. the olympic spirit not only swept the spectators and visitors but was also very much visible in our team. everyday was a blessing to be apart of the whole occassion. – less
