Omni has a long established pedigree in the Facility Services market. Beginning as Modern Building Cleaning in the 1950's, the company grew organically and through acquisitions to become the largest and only janitorial services provider in Canada with a truly national capability and presence, furthermore the company developed a reputation as the benchmark – more... in the industry.
Modern Building Cleaning's acquisitions included Focus Building Services Ltd and Adelaide Maintenance Ltd. The company was eventually sold to Sanitary Maintenance Systems, after which the name was changed to SMS Modern. Omni Facility Services purchased the assets of SMS Modern in 2002 and assumed its current name of Omni Facility Services Canada Ltd post a management buyout in May 2006.
Today Omni is Canada's largest facility services company by total employees, portfolio size and revenue base. The company is a family of over 6000, personally providing facility services in their home town, nationwide to more than 1000 clients in over 2000 buildings covering well over 100 million sq ft every day.
In June 2008 Omni became part of the Distinction Group (GDI) which is comprised of 6 companies, 8500 employees, with $250MM in revenue.
