Numbers game with lots of Collection Calling
Management Trainee (Former Employee) –  Washington StateFebruary 23, 2018
High expectations from management for employees to sell insurance products per loan... lowest selling insurance employee manager has to sit in with employee during loan closing to see why they are not selling insurances (This is company wide)... It is a number game you are expected to produce for the company, so you do have a quota every month and if you consistently do not hit quota you will get written up or canned... Half the job is doing loans/cold calling, and the other half is collecting on delinquent accounts that are past due... OneMain caters to those with lower credit scores, and as a result the majority of loans will be at 25% interest rate unless utilizing a vehicle at interest rates from 15-22%... Working at this company I was commonly labeled as a "used car salesman" or "loan shark"...
Pros
Learn a lot about irresponsible people...
Cons
Just about everything....

one main has very good potential to be a wounder place to work and fun if there were other managers knew how to do there job instead of running around talking bad about there agents and the supervisor would be better if they knew the difference of doing the job and not trying to sleep with the agents. when you go to hr to let them know whats going on an that you would like for things to change next thing you know they fire you

The traditional systems of maintenance and status quo at One Main makes it difficult for young professionals to grow. I don't wish to share more about this company.

Challenging
Branch Manager (Current Employee) –  North CarolinaFebruary 7, 2018
One Main is a fast paced environment with multiple goals for success. There is quite a bit of pressure day to day to meet all goals. The benefits with One Main are excellent and paid time off is very good compared to most companies. There will be lots of solicitation and collections involved day to day. The pay and the incentive programs are competitive. Work/life balance has decreased over the last year.
Pros
benefits, pay, overall environment
Cons
consistent pressure, work/life balance

Nice people working there. Because of lack of stabilit, I would not recommend working there.
Executive customer care (Current Employee) –  Evansville, INFebruary 7, 2018
Management is totally political. Your in the group or your not. No in between.
You never know when there will be an across the board employee cut.
Management seems to be unstable in the power they are given to lead.
Pros
Cafeteria on site
Cons
No stability

It was a very stressful work environment. Worked lots of overtime and did not have a work/life balance at all. Management only cared about themselves and not the employees.

They pay is good, The benifits are ok, but when it gets down to it, it doesnt seem like anyone really cares if your good at your job or not. They micromanage every second od your time, with no reasonable flexibility.

Branch Manager Trainee (Former Employee) –  Bordentown, NJJanuary 31, 2018
I had an excellent boss. As long as we got our work done in a timely fashion he did not bother us. He also worked closely with me to help me advance quickly with the company. The only reason I left is because the pay is quite low.

Personal Loan Specialist (Former Employee) –  Joliet, ILJanuary 31, 2018
Great place to make some good money but you better hope you are one of the favorites in certain offices. It's hard to sell a product you don't alway believe in but if sales is your area of strength then this is the place for you.

I loved working for this company! A company that believes in, and pushes their employees to the best of their abilities is hard to find. Everyday is a hard fit learning curb. Get ready to think on your feet, move with the quick changing environment, and succeed with style and grace.
Pros

high paced, and high pressure for success

SR Personal Loan Specialist (Current Employee) –  Homewood, ILJanuary 29, 2018
OneMain is fast paced work environment. You are required to sell loans, collect loans, and sell insurance on loans. While working there I did learn a variety of collection techniques and how to determine a person's credit worthiness.

I did not like having to work every saturday with no overtime. You were required to come in late before weekday(s) so you could work 3-4 hours on a Saturday calling delinquent accounts.
Pros
3 weeks vacation
Cons
health benefits and work schedule

Not worth the stress
Account Executive II (Former Employee) –  Albany, GAJanuary 28, 2018
I spent my days here answering phones, collecting payments, doing applications, closing loans, and looking for solicitation opportunities. It was very stressful and very fast paced. New procedures came out daily making your job more complicated than it had to be. Nobody was ever on the same page. Interest rates were ridiculously high which made loans harder to sell, yet, they still wanted you to reach unrealistic goals. And by the way, if you don't meet your goals then you're outta there! So if you don't have a sales mentality about yourself and can con people into signing their life away then this is not the job for you. By the way, training STINKS! The pay was ok , but not worth the stress. I left with a migraine every night. And don't make any personal plans for the end of the month because they want you to be camped out there trying to collect delinquent accounts. There was never enough time to finish one task so you stay over loaded with work . DON'T DO IT!
Pros

Cons
Poor training, unrealistic goals, hours

Not a great place to work
Branch Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Horseheads, NYJanuary 27, 2018
very sedentary work, work/life balance became worse as time went by. Extremely high goals, if you could achieve them compensation was decent but not compared to the amount of work it took to achieve them. Benefits were quite expensive. Raises given annually if you were one of the chosen few who received one.
