We are currently recruiting for the ICD-10 Healthcare IT Project Manager position for our direct client:

Our healthcare client would like to hire a PM experienced with ICD-10. The PM will report to the ICD-10 Program Manager within IT but will act as the business stakeholder's representative on the program. Solid prior experience with ICD-10 remediation and a good understanding of healthcare payers is essential.

External Program Manager Role

Provide support and guidance to Program and Project Managers on very large business systems initiatives. Responsibilities would include process evaluation and improvement, staffing recommendations, vendor management, and executive communication. Strong candidates will be supportive of existing staff but also quick and assertive with their recommendations in order to achieve program results on high-risk initiatives within very tight timelines.


  • Three years of experience running $10M+ programs with multiple sub-projects
  • Experience facilitating other Project Managers
  • Strong knowledge of project methodologies
  • BA or BS degree


  • At least one year of experience with health care payer processes and systems
  • PMP certification


  • Knowledge of the HIPAA transaction set and its usage within a health care payer environment
  • Advanced degree


  • Define and support the process of establishing a cost baseline which can be updated to reflect approved change requests


  • Review schedules created by sub-project PM*s to ensure that appropriate processes are being used in schedule definition and tracking
  • Ensure that critical path milestones are defined and dependencies are understood


  • Ensure that defined scope can be delivered within the mandated timeframes

Team Leadership and Communication

  • Provide coaching to the internal Program Manager on effective communication methods for large programs

Executive Liaisonship

  • Provide information to executive management on the health of the program overall, as well as recommendations for improvement in organization, process, and/or technology

Vendor Management

  • Review current contracts in place with multiple vendors, identify gaps, and suggest remediation steps
  • Provide oversight on vendor schedules and staffing to avoid unproductive costs and impacts to the overall timeline
