Patient Opinion is a social enterprise. What does this mean? A social enterprise is a business that exists to serve the public good rather than to generate profits for the owners. At Patient Opinion we are committed to running and efficient and sustainable business. We also run on a not-for-profit basis and when we do generate a surplus it is always directed into the NHS. How can I be sure that Patient Opinion is not-for-profit? Patient Opinion is structured as a company limited by shares. Within this we have a number of B share holders drawn from partner organisations and interested patients. B share holders are there to ensure we stay true to our goals of mutual support and service to the NHS. If you would like to become a B shareholder send an email to email@example.com to express interest. How do you know that the opinions posted are truthful and from real people? We have a number of ways of checking that postings to Patient Opinion are reliable. We also reserve the right to exclude people who abuse the system or whose postings are offensive. Will Patient Opinion grow to cover the whole country? We already cover the whole of England and hope to extend the site to cover all hospitals in the UK as soon as we can. Why doesn't Patient Opinion apply to general practices, dentists and so on?
