Senior Visual Designer Summary

This is an opportunity to work on a team that designs and builds compelling brand and consumer experiences for many high profile eCommerce brands. The Senior Visual Designer’s primary function is to understand business and brand requirements and create engaging experiences that bring together brand, design, and user experience and create innovative eCommerce solutions. The Senior Visual Designer excels at visual design but must have an appreciation and understanding of all UX disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead clients through the discovery process to establish business goals, understand customer needs, and collect requirements.
Make recommendations based on UX design standards and industry best practices
Create high-resolution visual mockups.
Work alongside developers to create and build innovative user experiences.
Lead cross-functional design reviews from initial concepts, wireframing and prototypes through feature completion.
Present Visual Design deliverables to clients – articulate the rationale behind your thinking while being able to incorporate feedback constructively.
Evaluate existing customer websites and competitor websites. Provide a meaningful analysis of the findings.
Assist in the creation of project functional specifications.


Exceptional portfolio, including URL’s and a description of your contribution to the work, upon submitting your application, that demonstrates ability to create a user centered design
Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work with UX Leads and mentor junior Designers
Working knowledge of common design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, and OmniGraffle
Experience leading workshops with clients to gather requirements and present finished deliverables
eCommerce design experience in an interactive agency/design firm and/or internal organization
Ability to articulate the implications of designing for mobile vs. desktop, and the benefits of each
Ability to successfully design in an Agile software development environment
Knowledge of eCommerce platforms, content management systems, and how they impact the design process
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to plan, conduct, and report on usability tests is a nice to have
Must be able to demonstrate experience and working knowledge of the following:
eCommerce usability and conversion best practices
Creating visual prototypes or screens
Extending existing visual systems/brand guidelines across device platforms
Information architecture and taxonomy
Managing the production of UX design deliverables
Experience designing for Magento, hybris or Demandware is a nice to have
Willing to travel to client locations as required, average 30%
