District Operations Merchandise Manager (Former Employee) – San Jose, CA – January 6, 2014
I quickly advanced at Orchard. They appreciated eye for detail and were willing to try new ideas. The people are great. They have a family mentality and everyone had good focus on the customer. Management was quick to recognize talent and move that person along. The hardest part of the job we keeping up with the quick growth of the company. When the company sold it was difficult to relate to the new upper management that was gutting the departments. The most enjoyable part of the job was training store managers.
It was fast paced and had excellent associates.
It was sold to a group that didn't understand the culture.
They don't tell you all part time employees are seasonal employees.
Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) – San Jose – November 14, 2017
Great place to work, culture is positive. Management is great. Discount is generous. Each Christmas OSH gives their employees gift which is useful to the job. If you are retired or a student living at home, a job at OSH works. But the OSH secret is that after Christmas/New Years, hours are really cut, and sometimes there is no work for weeks. If you depend on that pay, you are in trouble. The employees who work at OSH part-time to support themselves have 1 -2 other paying jobs which keeps them going until the hours rise back up in the spring. Part time positions are seasonal or if not enough people buy at the store, hours will be cut. If you want to get into management, they will train you.
Wonderful co-workers, positive environment, employee discount, fast paced
