Volunteer/Intern - applicant (Former Employee) –  AkronJanuary 10, 2018
I recently put in an application, but with hours not being signed from an internship/volunteer work with them. I would not accept the previous supervisor or under $50,000.00 a year full time. Anyone who spent over 130 course credits in an addiction bridge program, learning addiction deserves that. Last time I was there, they used generic forms that many where legal risks. I would be very stipulative, but that is profession. The DSM teaches us that if problems associated with an addiction warrant a type of substance use diagnosis. You call that an addiction, it becomes a disorder.

Resident Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Tiffin, OHDecember 20, 2017
Terrible place to work... Will tell you within the last 30 minutes of your shift that you need to stay another 4 hours with no regard to what you have going on. 6 day work weeks. Lots of mandatory meetings/trainings too. But good luck finding coverage so you can go to them. The clients are more trustworthy than the management. The job itself is stressful but the management makes it 1000x worse.

Behavior Specialist (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHDecember 11, 2017
Worked at Oriana House for quite some time and it is very unprofessional. Management are back stabbing and disrespecting their employees. Some of the positions are hard to get due to friends having friends back in the company! A lot of back and forth! Work overload with little staff, high turnover rate, no breaks !! A lot of favoritism.

Resident Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Tiffin, OHDecember 2, 2017
The job is demanding, lots of hours each week. It's not for everyone. I find it rewarding too because I get to help people and have coworkers that I enjoy. I feel supported by the management, they listen to me and help as much as they can but have jobs of their own to do which I understand. Pay could definitely be better but it could be worse too.
Pros
Benefits, feel supported, coworkers

Wants 80 hours of work out of you in a 40 hour work week. Won’t approve overtime either. Management has no idea what they are doing and there is no advancement or compensation for furthering your education. Worthless place to work. Only good thing they have going is the benefits you receive.

Support Staff (Current Employee) –  Akron, OHOctober 31, 2017
Over worked, under paid. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. If the executive staff would really take the time to see what is going on in the facilities, they would see the problems. I don't feel they should not open one more building until they fix the ones already servicing people.

Employment Specialist (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHOctober 24, 2017
Each day started with client evaluation to identify barriers from preventing them from being employed. I learned to make cold calls to various companies seeking job positions. Hardest part was keeping clients spirits up when they were denied a chance to interview. The best part was when a client secured a great job.
Pros
personal joy
Cons
trying to keep a person from giving up

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) –  Akron, OHOctober 21, 2017
This place has to have to highest turnover rates in Northeastern Ohio. Instead of trying to fix the issues that triggers nurses to quit before they are off orientation, management just keeps hiring new inexperienced nurses.

Residential Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Akron, OHOctober 20, 2017
Workers stab each other in the back. Employees bringing drugs into the facilities for employees. Employees having relations with clients. Employees stealing from clients and vending machines. There only agenda is to only make money. This year will be another year where employees get no raise. Best interest of the clients not given to them.

Excellent benefits if you are willing to deal with the rest
Ex-counselor (Former Employee) –  Akron, OHSeptember 29, 2017
As other reviews state, the biggest issue is staff turnover ( for which there is a regular report generated but nobody in upper management appears to care about). Most staff are treated as commodities that are easily replaced despite the passion, knowledge and experience they bring with them to the job. VPs are virtually invisible despite the many buildings and programs that exist. For a non profit, the upper management brings home a small fortune annually. I am sickened by the corporate greed that continues with no evident consideration to line staff and, sad to say, clients as well.
Pros
Health benefits are excellent, line staff and some middle management that are passionate about helping others
Cons
Everything else
