Orscheln Farm and Home supplies agricultural goods for farm, home, ranch, and suburban customers through its 150 retail stores in nine Midwestern states and its website. Orscheln offers animal feed and health items and other farm and ranch supplies, as well as such people products as clothing and footwear, lawn and garden care items, hunting equipment, tools, hardware, automotive supplies and tires, plumbing and electrical equipment, and other home improvement items. In order to serve its growing suburban customer base, the Orscheln has added toys, housewares, work and Western clothing, and, at select locations, sporting goods to its line of products.
Starting out in 1960 with one store in Sedalia, Missouri, Orscheln Farm and Home now has stores in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. It is a private, family-owned and -operated business.
The stores are part of the family-owned Orscheln Group, which, in addition to its retail agriculture supply business, owns and operates about a dozen other companies in diverse sectors, including automotive parts manufacturing and property management, in the US, Europe, India, and China. The group also owns bowling lanes and a golf course. – less
