About Otsego Memorial Hospital
Otsego Memorial Hospital is developing a new tool designed to match talented employees with the largest employer in Otsego County.
A video production, which will be available in the form of a CD, is in the final stages of production. The CD will give Human Resources Recruitment Coordinator Donna Wrubel a tangible picture of the culture of service – more... at OMH which will be used to show potential candidates for employment what the lifestyle and work environment is like at OMH.
"Candidates for our key clinical positions are being recruited from across the country," said Wrubel. "It's no longer sufficient to place an ad in a few newspapers and wait for the candidates to walk in the door. We have to have the information online and we have to work with recruiters to attract people who have never actually seen our hospital in person."
Wrubel said more than 70 percent of completed job applications now come from the hospital's website.
"Because candidates are coming from not only miles, but states away, we wanted to develop this CD to show them the culture of our organization so they can decide if they wish to make the trip to see us in person," Wrubel said.
The video production features employees of OMH using their own words to describe the work environment at the Hospital.
"We are fortunate to work here, surrounded by friends and people who care about us, not just as a co-worker, but as an individual," said Terra Deming, director of Human Resources at Otsego Memorial Hospital. "We have great schools, diverse recreational opportunities, and we have the highest quality of healthcare available because of the quality people who come to work for this organization. This CD is going to help us show that culture and our community values to people who are looking to relocate in this part of the country."
Development of the culture CD was one element defined in the Otsego Memorial Hospital strategic plan to strengthen the organization's recruitment and retention efforts. It is OMH's desire to be the employer of choice in the region, and to provide a work environment which both attracts the most qualified personnel possible, but also provides the support, compensation, and job satisfaction to retain employees who are in place and are critical to the organization's success.
"We need to focus not only on recruiting new personnel to fill key positions, but also to make sure we retain the quality staff who provide a high level of care every day. Satisfying both pools of employees is critical to our long-term success," said Deming. "This CD focuses on recruitment, so we have the best match possible when new employees come on board. However, we have a host of other initiatives which are designed to meet the needs of the skilled and talented staff who have made the organization the successful enterprise it is today." – less – More from ZoomInfo »
