Laboratory Technician, Memphis, TN - May 16, 2016
Job is a good place to work; however, expect to work long hours and communication is not good. I've learned that samples can arrive anytime of the day which eliminates work/life balance. Hardest part of the job is that you may have to stand for long periods of time in certain parts of the lab (sometimes >8hrs per day) during testing preparation and it takes about 77 mins. to run the test which can cause you to work way beyond your ending time. Equipment is not always dependable, which can break down and cause a delay in testing samples (another late night). Management communication with employees is not that good and sometimes you may get several different answers for one questions or no answer. The most enjoyable part of the job is that sometimes coworkers will work hard and will stay late to complete the testing; however, this may cause a problem in being paid overtime on time.
