The production scheduler will track all aspects of major product development programs from conceptualization through design and production. Many complex tasks must be performed internally and externally to bring a program to fruition. Design engineers, certification engineers, materials managers, machinists, assemblers, etc. are working on multiple programs simultaneously. Multiple internal and external changes require that the company-wide schedule be proactively managed in order for all resources to be deployed against their most effective use at all times. The scheduler's role is to help bring that together. He/she will work with departmental leaders to develop an initial schedule, making sure everyone involved in a particular program - internally and externally - knows exactly what their responsibility is in order to deliver the program on time. The scheduler will also develop views for review by customers, executive leadership and departmental leaders. If any aspect of the schedule changes, the scheduler will update the schedule and proactively communicate the changes to all involved.
More broadly, the scheduler is also responsible for developing/maintaining a sense of schedule discipline across the company. He/she will do this by catching any deviations early, and by periodically illustrating company schedule performance and corresponding results.
