ABOUT THE JOB:
PADI is seeking a goal oriented, highly organized, charismatic leader who empowers marketing staff by encouraging creativity, metrics-driven results and a positive work environment. This leadership role plans, directs and evaluates the marketing initiatives of PADI Americas’ products and/or services, enthusiastically directs a dynamic marketing team and ensures successful execution of marketing plans to foster PADI’s growth in its areas of key performance.

The Director, Marketing directly supervises the PADI Marketing Department staff including the Online Community Manager, eMarketing Executive, Marketing Consultants, Graphic Artists and Staff Assistant. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Additionally, the Director, Marketing is responsible for managing ideas, creating an environment that encourages ideas, helping employees develop their knowledge and improve their problem solving skills in order to increase the quality and impact of their ideas, and championing ideas and looking for possible larger implications in them.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Goal Oriented:
 With the collaboration of the Vice President, Marketing & Communications, develop executive marketing goals and a marketing plan to ensure share of market and profitability of products and or services.
 Ensure execution of marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure profit, growth and expansion of company products and/or services on time and to specifications.
 Ensure PADI Americas' annual benchmark goals are met or exceeded in every key performance indicator in which they are prescribed.
 Ensure execution of ScubaEarth online community expansion plans within annual budget and time specifications.
 Ensure execution of the expansion of PADI Branded Merchandise via B2C Shopping cart.
 Effectively promote and grow the PADI brand.
 With the coordination of the Director, PADI Communications and Public Relations, ensure all marketing plans and corporate initiatives appropriately leverage all communication vehicles.
 Oversee PADI’s B2C Social Media strategy.
 Oversee PADI’s B2B Social Media strategy.
 Effectively coordinates and networks as a marketing advisor with co-workers within Sales, Retail and Resort Association, Customer Service, Instructor Development, Training, Planning and Development, Field Services, PADI Diving Society, Project AWARE, PADI Travel Network, and ScubaEarth.
 Uses exceptional organization skills to get work done through, and with, others.
 Uses exceptional presentation skills to communicate marketing and business concepts to PADI Membership, industry professionals, and other audiences as needed.

Leadership:
 Empower a positive and creative work environment while leading the core Marketing functions for PADI Americas.
 Effectively oversee the work product of, and directly supervise PADI’s: Online Community Manager, eMarketing Executive, Marketing Consultants, Graphic Artists and Staff Assistant.
 Effectively network within the organization with a positive attitude.
 Effectively coordinate and network with the Director of Field Services, Manager of Sales, Regional Managers and Retail & Resort Manager to develop and implement sales promotions, marketing campaigns and Business of Diving programs.

Planning and Control:
 Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.
 Plan and oversee the organization's advertising and promotion activities including print, online, direct mail, and other electronic advertising.
 Ensure effective control of marketing results and that objectives are within designated budgets.
 Oversee the planning, organization and execution of all consumer and trade shows throughout the year to support the organization's goals.
 Oversee the PADI corporate identity and implement strategies that ensure worldwide consistent look and feel.
 Evaluate market reactions to advertising programs, marketing initiatives, and product packaging and formulation to ensure timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

Administration:
 Prepare quarterly marketing metric reports.
 Prepare monthly social media report.
 Actively participate in the annual International Marketing summit
 Create and coordinate the design, implementation, execution and maintenance of, marketing programs and strategies designed to attract new divers into the sport and keep divers active in the sport.
 Manage the PADI Americas' Marketing budget, and elements of the mail services budget and translation budget, including providing regular variance reports upon request.
 Assist in conducting marketing surveys to collect and analyze primary data on current and new product concepts and general customer trends.
 Promote the PADI Brand by participating in, and assisting with the organization of photo/video shoots

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
 Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required, Marketing or Communications major preferred.
 M.B.A. in related field a plus.
 Minimum four years experience in a management position in public relations and/or marketing with direct responsibility for advertising, promotions, and communications.
 Minimum four years experience in dive industry/corporate environment.
 Minimum five years management experience with supervisory responsibilities.
 Previous advertising agencies experience a plus.
 Scuba diving certification required

This position is located at PADI’s Rancho Santa Margarita location. Relocation is not available.
