Just stay on the phone
Account Manager (Current Employee), Merrimack, NHMay 15, 2014
Pros: free lunch, and breakfast, and internal hardware/services support
Cons: unrealistic metrics, goals ramp up quickly, crowded var marketplace.
A typical day involves getting minimum talk times. Goals Ramp up quickly and a lot is expected of you in acquiring new accounts. Even if you meet sales goals, if you are not bringing in new business every month, you will be put on Performance Improvement Plans, quickly. Though they advertise that they have a new year long training program with room to grow, they will expect you to be a performer out of the gate. It also helps if someone leaves or is promoted on your team and you are able to get one or some of their buying accounts. Training program is excellent and can open up many opportunities for future employment. Companies certainly like to hire former PC Connection employees. Chat up the Gatekeeper or call vendor support to keep your job.

Ok place...phone sales
Account manager (Former Employee), Merrimack, nhFebruary 5, 2013
Pros: free lunch, excellent training
Cons: unrealistic metrics, stress
You have to love cold calling and all that comes with it. Unrealistic metrics as they could care less if you make 1,000 calls as they only care about talk time. Goals go up fast and they get on you fast about metrics. You do learn a lot about products and I have to say their training people are very very good. You get the free food and stuff from vendors but not worth the emotional stress.

Hard working team leader
AR Specialist (Former Employee), Boca Raton, FLDecember 5, 2012
Pros: account reconciliation
Cons: social butterfly
Maintaining and AR Portfolio under 60 days. Worked closely with the Sales, Tax, Cash, Billing, Customer Service, and Credit Depts. The hardest part is waiting for someone else to complete their job so you can complete yours. The most enjoyable part is being able to work in a healthy enviroment with positive people.

Great workplace- if you have what it takes
Account Manager (Current Employee), New HampshireOctober 30, 2012
Pros: free lunch sometimes, free breakfast sometimes, learn new technology, great employers
Cons: silly metric system requirements, emphasize overtime, the goal ramps up very quickly
For a salesman, PC Connection is fantastic. If you aren't a sales person... not so much. I have maintained a great relationship with my coworkers and employers so that I could go back if I so chose, however this place is only really great when you are deadset on being a salesman and a good one.

can be lucrative, but you need to put in a lot of time
Business Development Specialist (Sales) (Former Employee), Merrimack, NHJuly 22, 2012
Pros: opportunity
Cons: poor management, clear favoritism, unsafe alcohol situations
Company has opportunities that can be lucrative, however they seem more concerned with how much time you spend at your desk vs. how much revenue you create.
There is a mixed value system whereby senior management encourages "entertaining" clients and vendors with activities and alcohol, then selectively punishes people for not adhering to policy. You are required to attend these evening and weekend events.

Very friendly, welcoming, and encouraging environment with fun events to attend!
Account Manager (Current Employee), Portsmouth, NHJuly 10, 2012
Pros: free breakfasts, lunches, and sometimes dinners. prizes from vendors are also a perk!
My Sales Manager is amazing and always there to help. Everyone on the sales team is helpful to each other and there's never a dull moment.

The hardest part of the job is the cold calls and handling rejections, but when you can overcome the objections and prove yourself and the company to the prospect it's a rewarding feeling.

Sales job...
Account Manager (Former Employee), Merrimack, NHMarch 24, 2012
This can be a great place pending the economy is stable. The managers are great, provided that your sales are above the daily goal. If the economy dips the managers put you in a position that you fear your job. This place is hit or miss, with the right clients you will go far, the management is great, as long as you are a top performer.
