DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

This position is responsible for designing, developing and unit testing TSDS (Texas Student Data Systems) web portal application enhancement. Developer will primarily modify and develop the web portal application, business rules, store procedures and web services using WebSphere Portal, Web services, XML and SQL.

Performs complex web application development following a defined software development life cycle process and works as a member of a team supporting the Agency’s TSDS application.

  • Responsible for many phases of the software development lifecycle including technical research, requirements analysis, high level and technical design, implementation of enhancements to TSDS project, unit testing and deployment using IBM WebSphere Portal to develop web portal in Window/Oracle Database environment.
  • Specific programming tasks include the creation of the detail design specification, writing codes, developing database store procedure in SQL, develop business rules in JBoss Business Rules Management System, debugging and testing of components, and generation of software builds.
  • Day to day work may involve working with the development team to define the impact of requirements to the current systems and interface to other systems, document technical design , develop codes, assist with technical issues, assist with user acceptance testing, provide production support, and other related work development work as assigned.

WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
8 Experience in development of application using IBM WebSphere Portal to develop web portal in Window and Oracle environment.
8 Experience in development of large scale project using Java.
5 Experience in development of SQL scripts, store procedures and package development in large scale database projects
5 Strong knowledge of security consideration for a web site
5 Must possess solid oral and written communication skills
2 Experience in working with XML application.
DEGREE Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Information System related field from an accredited institution.

Preferences:
Years Skills/Experience
5 Experience in designing the fault tolerance / high availability system with extensive stress testing experience.
3 Development of business rules using JBoss BRMS is preferred
3 Development of reports using Crystal Report is preferred
