Job Description: Purchasing Manager

Ability to develop strong business relationships with internal customers in order to understand requirements, assess supplier base and implement strategic sourcing strategies to acquire goods and services efficiently.

This position requires a high level of education and experience in primary procurement capabilities along with front line and middle management level skills associated with operation of an industrial level purchasing department. The candidate must have the knowledge and ability to perform all functions throughout the department and to supervise direct reports in the performance of these tasks. Knowledge and experience required to answer questions, solve problems, resolve disputes and conduct orderly processes for day to day business operations comprise a majority of the tasks required for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized procurement knowledge and detailed strategic analysis
  • Maintain reports on all procurement activity, spend and provide analysis to senior management
  • Develop and support process improvement initiatives
  • Provide guidance and assistance on all Procurement related policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and implementation of regional or Global procurement standards
  • Develop and monitor markets and cost impacts to ensure “best value and service” objective
  • Utilize appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price and service
  • Oversee all activities related to procurement of a commodity or service, from intent to purchase through delivery and acceptance
  • Enter purchase orders in the SAP system and issue the order to the supplier

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a process chemical environment
  • Experience with commodity and supplier management
  • Strong Excel and analysis skills
  • Proven effective cross-functional business team experience
  • SAP System experience preferred
  • Effective negotiation and project management skills
