Really long hours
Truck driver, Riverside, CA - June 24, 2015
Worked 14 hours a day. Some of the older drivers get paid by hour with OT and all the new guys like me get paid cents per mile, delivery and for fueling truck. Its called activity based pay and its really hard to make the kind of money the hourly guys make. They will make you stay home some days when there is no work, even though they tell you their is plenty of work, its not true. And if you think about leaving they will charge you $5,000 if you don't stay 2 years to work for them. Don't be trapped by this company. Other companies will pay you hourly and won't charge you $5k for leaving. Companies include Superior, Evans, Flyer, Pilot, Cox, Cool transport. These companies will treat you better guaranteed if you really want to get in fuel transport and train you better also. My trainer would text and drive all the time and did not care about the danger. I switched trainers immediately but you trade was serious issue for another. I made about $700 on my 2 week paycheck for working close to 70 hours a week for 2 weeks. I could not live on that and i could no longer put my life in danger for bad trainers that obviously did not care about my safety.
