Unarmed Security Guard, Costa Mesa, CA - September 8, 2017
PacWest Security Services has quality management which endeavors to meet a worker's preferences for a posting. A typical shift (either Swing or Graveyard) entails a mix of foot and vehicle patrols, has two checks for mailboxes security, a single after-hours check for unlocked doors at the post, checks on electrical power with a Detex wand, and a late night check for vehicles still parked in the post. I have learned courteous service to businesspersons and customers delivered in a calm and dispassionate manner. I have also learned how to leave phone messages with busy field supervisors in a succinct/truncated manner. The most enjoyable parts of the job are foot patrols and some interactions with corporate park businesspersons/customers. The hardest parts of the job are Graveyard hours (caffeine pills recommended here) and on rare occasions extreme weather conditions (Southern California heat on Swing shifts...even more rare instances of heavy rains). Workplace culture is fully reasonable with positive, amicable relations between management and employees.
