The Palantir Mission Operations team is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Unix Engineer to provide operational support to engineering and business development teams, as well as remote customer environments.

  • Troubleshoot complex Unix/Linux issues in production customer environments
  • Deploy and scale production systems with minimal downtime
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks
  • Implement and administer network infrastructure
  • Develop and manage process to monitor systems and infrastructure
  • Assist in network/server infrastructure design
  • Develop and document operations procedures
  • Develop creative solutions to complex technological challenges
  • Support the Mission Operations team as needed


  • 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux system administration (CentOS or RHEL preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and networking
  • Strong Unix system programming using a shell and a higher level language
  • Strong and current working knowledge of modern x64-based server hardware
  • Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Experience configuring systems for use with one of the major database packages
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong knowledge in various systems disciplines (DNS, LDAP, SMTP, SSH/SSL, NTP, package managers, TCP/IP internals, volume managers/file systems, etc.)
  • Customer service mentality
  • Moderate Windows Server knowledge
  • Ease in communicating with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Ability to travel


  • BS/MS in Computer Science or other technology related fields
  • TS security clearance or willingness to get cleared
  • Experience with open source monitoring and alerting systems (Nagios, Cacti, etc.)
  • Experience with virtualization (VMWare, VirtualBox, etc.)
  • Experience with systems management tools (puppet, cfengine, etc.)
  • Experience scaling and managing server clusters
  • Database experience (MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Network experience
