In 1959, a small group of parents seeking to help their adult children with developmental disabilities become more independent founded Palm Beach Habilitation Center (PBHC). First operating from a modest clubhouse room provided by the Lantana Lions Club, in 1960, the Center moved to Lake Worth and set up operations on 14.5 acres donated by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
Over the years, the Palm Beach Habilitation Center's scope broadened to include services for adults with physical and emotional disabilities. By 1995, the number of people served by the PBHC had increased from 38 to over 350. Today PBHC provides comprehensive services to more than 700 individuals with developmental, emotional, and physical disabilities. – less–ZoomInfo
