Best Kept Secret In Sales
General Manager (Current Employee), San Antonio, TX – March 25, 2013
Pros: unlimited pay potential, great training, culture of success
Cons: there are only 24 hrs in the day
I must admit...I almost didn't show up to my interview 3 1/2 years ago because I didn't want to sell "trailers."

That would have been a HUGE mistake because the opportunity I was given at Palm Harbor Homes has been nothing short of life changing.

I am a very blunt individual so let me cut to the chase...if the posts below this one about having to – more... "work too hard" or "salary being less than minimum wage" scare you....then don't wast your time.

The cold hard truth is Palm Harbor is a professional sales organization and those who make it bank on their commissions, not their salary. The more you work, the more you make...SIMPLE AS THAT!!

A typical work week for a sales rep in this company is 50-55 hrs/wk. It sounds like a lot, but that is the average. I didn't want any part of AVERAGE so I put in 70-80 hrs/wk in my first two years.

As a result....

1.) I have never made less than $100,000/yr since I started
2.) I am completely debt free except for my mortgages
3.) I own 2 homes and am about to purchase my third
4.) I retired my wife and she will never have to work again
5.) I spend each and every day helping people fulfill their DREAM of home ownership

Oh BTW...I am only 27 use to bar tend and wait tables.

A sales position at Palm Harbor homes is an OPPORTUNITY to make money...not a guarantee.

I will however promise you this...Palm Harbor homes will give you all the tools needed to succeed. We train daily and push HARD for results.

BUT...we cannot and will not train work ethic, positive attitude or student mentality.

If you seek financial independence and have what it takes to make that goal a reality, come aboard and surround yourself with people already DOING IT!!! – less

Great Leadership and Family Support
General Manager (Current Employee), Sequine, TX – March 25, 2013
I have been working for Palm Harbor since November of 2008 and it is the best company I have ever worked for. The best leadership and opportunity I have ever seen. This company has supported my family in so many ways and allowed us to get so many things. It takes hard work but what in life doesn’t. If you want to be successful you must be the best at – more... what you do and put passion into your job. I will work for this company until I retire as it has treated me better than any other job I have seen out there. – less

Ideal for high pressure sales people
Housing Consultant (Former Employee), South Texas – March 15, 2013
Pros: high energy environment
Cons: no time for lunch and be prepared to work 50 - 60 hour weeks
Strongly recommend that employees come in early, stay late and attempt to be in the office on their days off. Co-workers are friendly enough. Management believes that they offer great training but really it compares to teaching someone to swim by throwing them into the deep end of the pool.

Poor company, poorly managed, no real core values
Former Manager/ Sales Professional (Former Employee), Houston, Tyler, Bossiercity – February 6, 2013
Pros: not much
Cons: management, fellow vipers, and all in between.
Long hours, horrible base pay, the company wants you to give everything to them but makes no investment in you. Management will cause conflict on purpose just to stir things up. The training is just really so poor and repetitive. If a client doesn't have good credit you eject them without leaving them with dignity. This company cares about one thing – more... the bottom line and they don't take prisioners.
No long term future here. RUN FOR COVER! – less

Long term employment with better than average benefits
Cost Accountant (Former Employee), Boaz, AL – December 30, 2012
Pros: free lunches, free golf trips, vacation time, travel to train others
Cons: constant pressure to achieve higher goals without compensation
Up to one half of my day was spent in meetings. Planning, reviewing and collecting data for upper management decisions. We spent many hours learning and practicing Quality Management principles. Over a period of 20 years I met and enjoyed working with hundreds of different people with many different management styles and directions. The hardest part – more... of my job was keeping our Corporate office requirements met while fulfilling directives from a General Manager in an extremely fast paced environment. This was also the most enjoyable part of working here. – less

When I worked there it was a great company to work for.
Sales and Sales Manager (Former Employee), Denton, TX – December 28, 2012
Pros: excellent company with excellent compensation
Cons: hours
A typical day would involve showing and selling homes. I learned a lot about how important organization and a positive attitude were for sales and life in general. I loved my co-workers, they provided tremendous support to me during my employment. The hours were long. I enjoyed meeting people and the friendships I made while with this company.

Sales = 50 hrs weekly = $75K+ Annually
General Manager (Current Employee), Albuquerque, NM – December 17, 2012
Pros: lots of money to be made, good growth potential, great product
Cons: long sales cycle = takes a few months to begin getting consistent commissions
As a Retail Sales Consultant, you can expect to work approximately 50 hours per week. Typically, a first year consultant will earn $40-60K, with the majority earned through commission. If you are "elite", you can earn a six figure income. Tons of advancement opportunity. I became a General Manager within 1 year of coming aboard at the age of 23. I have – more... consistently earned $80-120k Annually for the last 9 years with the company. – less

Good product. Long hours and financially challenged customer base.
Sales Manager (Former Employee), Denton, TX – November 30, 2012
Pros: good commissions on the homes.
Cons: long hours, and a culture of nepotism and cronyism when it came to promotions.
A typical day at PHH would generally start before 7 AM in order to get the 1st opportunity coming through the door. The day didn't end until 6PM or later depending on whether there were customers on the lot. I had to work every Saturday and some Holidays as well. As with any sales position, I enjoyed the selling part...however, the manufactured home – more... market generally attracts people who simply can't get financing, with few exceptions. Even though the sales center was in a high traffic area, many days were uselessly spent waiting for customers to walk in the door. – less

Best income Job you can find!
General Manager (Current Employee), Killeen – November 7, 2012
Pros: great pay scale and benifits
Cons: long hours and hardwork but pays great!
I have been in the business for 17yrs and I have not found any other company that has a pay scale that rewards their sales people and managers better than this one. Its allot of hard work but a great opportunity to grow from withing this company. everything they do is from within... start in sales and you can become the Exec. Vice President with allot – more... of hard work! – less

Awesome people and work enviroment - R.E.S.P.E.C.T
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Killeen, TX – November 7, 2012
Pros: all of the above plus some
Cons: not a one!
Worked here for sadly a short period of time. I am a military wife and sadly I move where the army tells me to. But for the short time (8 months) that I worked for Palm Harbor Homes in Killeen I was a sales associate. To be totally honest I have held numerous jobs and always left because of the lack of respect. At Palm Harbor Homes I was amazed at how – more... much they were willing to work with me when it came to working around doc. appointments or personal incidents. The people there are upbeat and so much fun to work with. I certainly learned a lot when it came to how I was supposed to be treated (respect) and how a job should REALLY be. For the first time in a long time I looked forward to going to work and working with my friends, not just my co-workers. They understand that you should be paid for the time and effort you put into the job. Which was so odd for me. I have worked commission/sales jobs in the past where you work straight off commission. It was the best compensation packages I have ever had! I was sad to have to say good-bye but love the fact of how understanding they were and wished me the best. I know I will have a forever home there, friends and a great refrence if ever needed. If you are looking to work there I would highly recommend it. There is a lot of learning and work involved but man oh man does it pay off! – less

Only a good job if you live to work.
Sales Representative (Current Employee), Bryan, TX – October 14, 2012
Pros: commission is good.
Cons: terrible base pay and hours!
The "honeymoon" phase is over after about a month and a half, you are required to do the operation manager's job/paperwork, and meet a very tough minimum requirements on a month to month basis to keep your job.
They want you to eat, breath, and sleep Palm Harbor, and believe me you won't have much time on your hands not to. The base pay is below minimum – more... wage. Being a woman, you can't raise children or have a family with this job. A typical work week is about 50-55 hours a week and you get severely reprimanded for not meeting their overly-demanding standards.
This job is HIGHLY geared toward men.
If you're good at being a sleezy salesman and lying this is the job for you.
They do sell a good product, and when you make commission it is good money. But you will have little (if any) time on your hands to spend it.

I would not mind working so much IF they base pay was better and the atmosphere wasn't so stressful. They preach team work, but do not practice it. – less

Liked getting to know how a manufactured home is built.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Millersburg, OR – September 27, 2012
Pros: potlucks, laid back atmosphere, great staff.
Cons: no advancement, job security
I greeted customers, answered phones and assisted the Office Manager as needed. Love working with all the staff and getting to know the processes of the manufacturing world. Very family oriented. The hardest part of my job was little to no advancement and the economy had so much to do with slow down in production. I eventually was laid off due to sale – more... decline. – less
