Daily functions will range from operating our polymer fiber optic fabrication equipment, to general laboratory work and general cleaning, as well as packing and shipping orders. Specific tasks include ensuring equipment is running within specific parameters, taking detailed notes, identifying and reporting anomalies, and taking steps to help keep equipment running in proper form. There will be the need to work swing or overnight shifts when lengthy runs are in progress, and the position may eventually transition into full-time shift work. The candidate will also assist with a variety of lab and production tasks when required.
Over time, the candidate will gain a greater understanding of our operation and needs, and we expect and hope that the candidate will grow in the position and become a key, long-term member of the Paradigm Optics team.
Although this is an entry level position the successful candidate should be able to learn quickly.
Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task.
Excellent communication skills.
Willing and able to adapt to swing-shift or overnight shift requirements.
Able to climb a ladder while carrying 30 lbs of equipment.
Ability to lift heavy equipment (upwards of 70 lbs.)
Successful completion of a background check will be necessary.
Candidate should be a strong team player.
Experience with LabView and/or Matlab is a plus, but not required.
Experience with note taking/maintaining a daily laboratory journal.
The ideal candidate may have the opportunity to advance and manage others as the company grows.
Basic knowledge of shop/power tools is a bonus.
Higher education in a scientific discipline or relevant work experience is preferred, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:
$10-$12 per hour base pay, depending on the experience of the applicant (plus added differential pay for night-shift work). We offer access to a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, LTD, Life Insurance and 401(k), after completion of a probationary period.
