Sr. Warehouseman (Former Employee) –  Brownsville, TXJune 12, 2016
If you are new you will probably be harassed, cussed, slandered and lied to about your future with Parker. There Corporate attitude is that the field level people work for them.

Challeging Experience
Technical Services (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXMarch 11, 2016
Depending on the Department and the Management Team on each one working can be a challenging situation; mostly because hiring seems to be based on friendship and long time relationships. Positions and job promotions are not earned but inherited or given
in nepotism. Fathers and sons hired for the same departments, similar jobs, etc. There is no room for advancement.

Management tends to praise outsiders and relegate long time Parker employees to second or third roles within the organization. There is no recognition whatsoever for their loyalty to the company. This is somehow compensated with certain freedom to establish a work schedule. In general a family company that went public and is struggling to survive; there is a lack of empathy for the life of its employees outside of the work environment, rules don't apply to everyone. There could be retaliation.

Even with all the cons, working for Parker Drilling has been a great opportunity, a small company to learn, train and be known in the Oil and Gas Industry. Old habits die hard and Parker has not been able to realized that the most important resource is its human resource.
Pros
Matching 401K, gym allowance
Cons
micromanagement, nepotism, no perks for average employees, no drinking water service

Rig Manager (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJanuary 20, 2016
hold safety meetings, get the point across to employees' safety is #1 priority, preform as per customer demands, what i learned, when it comes to cost & production safety is said to be # 1 by managerment but some demand that are expected does jeopardize safety, i learned that there is no garantee for a career in oilfield.co-workers preform well together & enjoyed working with same, the hardest part of job is working long hours & when something goes wrong someone get discipline for action when incident wasn't preventable by employee. enjoyable part of job is getting reconsition for jobs done well .coming home safety to family

Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXSeptember 25, 2015
Working for a corporate aviation department has its ups and downs, especially in the oil drilling industry. As long as the oil prices remain high, work is easy to come by. Whenever the oil prices are low, lay offs and reduction in work load are prevalent.
