Pros: there are no pro's to working for a company such as this one.
Cons: unreasonable demands, constant threats of firing, incessant rounds of layoffs
A typical day at Partners Pharmacy would be coming in and being behind in the work for the morning delivery deadlines. The phones would often be ringing steadily with problems of incorrect or not received drug orders from the night before. You were expected to troubleshoot and fix these problems, catch up on the work that had not been done by the overnight staff, meet the morning delivery deadlines for coding, and make no mistakes while accomplishing these demanding tasks.
I learned that demanding more than can be reasonably expected from an employee puts all employees on shaky ground, giving management leverage over all employees, which will be used to demand pay cuts, shift changes, and job responsibility additions.
The management was merciless in generating leverage over their employees and using that leverage against the employee to better their bottom line. Reward for successfully meeting these demands was non-existant and only resulted in increasing the demands.
Many of my co-workers were fabulous people trying to make the best out of a bad situation. They came in early and stayed late, doing their best with minimal staff and frequent new, inexperienced employees due to staff turnover. They struggled admirably while losing skilled, experienced and good employees all for the short term goals of bettering company's profits.
The hardest part of the job was knowing that no matter the skill, dedication, or sacrifice you made for the company, the only determinant factor in your evaluation would be duration with the company and if they could replace you with another body willing to accept less money, regardless of competence.
