you have to be willing to work multiple cases in 1 day
home health aide (Former Employee), New York, NYAugust 16, 2015
Pros: no pros
Cons: no lunch breaks, multiple cases
working here was ok. there were times where id go weeks without a case so a backup job would be necessary. you sometimes only have a 2 hour case which will require you to travel to multiple cases in one day which can be an inconvenience.

Certified Home Health Aide (Former Employee), New York, NYJuly 14, 2015
Pros: independent
Cons: low pay
Work is hard with low pay. In my experience I was responsible for many parts of a person's household and well-being. I cooked meals, shopped for groceries, cleaned and did laundry. Best part is you're self supervised by most part. You have to be able to make important decisions by just using common sense.

Home Health Aide (Former Employee), New York, NYJuly 13, 2015
Pros: flexible hours
Cons: being in one place for 8 to 12 hours
I start my day checking the patient to see how they feel.person care and making sure they had their correct medicine for the day.Prepare meals, Food shopping sometimes.housekeeping and laundry duties.what I've learned is every patient has a different personalities and I must treat everyone equal. The hardest part is moving a person around, in and out of bed.most enjoyable part was taking my patient out and walk to view the ocean

Pros: The Joy of being able to take care of sick patients whom can't care for themselves.
Cons: To much work for the lack of pay. Its been some years so maybe the pay is much better now.
I got to meet many elderly patients who suffer with different ailments. The job consist of a lot of work and patience. You tend to get attach to some of your patients and it can become overwhelming seeing them in their conditions. However it helps make your job easier because of your love for making sure your patients are safe and get the proper care they deserve.

A day normally involves ensuring all clients are being serviced by completing attendance, providing replacements to those clients whose aides may have called off. Providing timely/caring service to new clients. This has taught the importance of great human relationship and the need for excellent customer service, both internal and external, the importance of organized and supportive management which ensures consistent success.
Team work among co-workers is essential for day to day success.
Finding the appropriate and timely service to satisfy clients' needs.
It is most gratifying to feel the clients satisfaction for the service provided.
