Pasadena City College has been engaged for the past year and a half in a comprehensive process to redesign its website. A Web Redesign Steering Committee was created and has worked diligently over the past year to research exemplary college and university sites, interview web administrators at other colleges, conduct student focus groups and one-on-one interviews with faculty and staff, audit Service Desk requests for projects submitted to the web office – all for the redesign of the PCC website. Rather than migrating layers of poorly written, outdated, and in many cases inaccurate information from the old website into the new content management system, PCC seeks to capitalize on the opportunity to set a fresh new tone and much higher standards for writing on the web.
Scope of Work
PCC seeks a professional web copywriter who can:
- Research the needs of the college’s core audiences: students, faculty, staff, and the community
- Create content that allows site visitors to get the information they want quickly and efficiently
- Help to cultivate the college’s “voice” so that it aligns with the college’s core values and engenders a positive and productive user experience
- Produce content that is smart in its use of keywords and is focused on search engine optimization (SEO) for better search engine indexing and ranking
This position will work closely with the Website Redesign Steering Committee and the Web Administrator for project guidelines and direction. This position will also work with an in-house liaison who will provide access to key personnel and general research assistance, as well as ensure a knowledge transfer takes place by the end of the contract.
This position will begin immediately upon hire and be completed by November 30th but may be renewed by mutual consent of the parties.
In your proposal include a resume and cover letter, relevant work samples, and references where applicable.
