very rewarding job.
Behavior Assistant (Former Employee), Hobe Sound, FL – March 26, 2013
Pros: seeing the little boy happy.
Cons: seeing him angry and frustrated with himself.
I didn't actually work at the company, per se. I worked at the client's home.

One main goal, that the mother wanted was that her child not play video games so much. Before my arrival, according to the mother, he didn't want to read, or be read to, play outdoor or indoor games, or even go outside, at all. This was very difficult for her, she was not – more... even able to do errands, because the child didn't want to leave the computer. Regular tantruming, both mild and severe, were the norm, if she tried to remove the computer.

A typical day, would be for me to get the child involved in other activities, and him being happy to do so. The hardest part, was having him want to be involved if he hadn't gotten a good night's sleep, because he found the computer his mother had hidden and played on it in the middle of the night. The most enjoyable part, was seeing him happy. – less

Overall, I enjoy working for PBS.
Fundraiser Lead (Current Employee), Miami, FL – March 17, 2013
Pros: i have a great manager, very positive and motivating.
Cons: no job security
I am the fundraising lead in the room so I process time sheets, checks, and deal with all employees/customer relations.

I started this position as a tele marketer and worked my way up to a management position, so I have grown with the station.

The most enjoyable part of my job is gaining the trust of my coworkers by proving myself through my work – more... ethic. – less

Good initial broadcast experience.
Production Assistant (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – November 5, 2012
Lionsgate TV, an affiliated PBS network would come to PA quite frequently to shoot their TV series "History Detectives". They would call me every time they came to the PA area and hire me as a production assistant due to my work background and knowledge of the areas. It was a great series of experiences to obtain at a young professional age.

Rewarding place to work based upon a feeling of contributing to the benefit of the public through educational programs.
Director, Computer Services and Telecommunications (Former Employee), Alexandria, VA – October 15, 2012
Provided all IT support to PBS HQ staff; managed IT staff in diverse areas of IT from networking to satellite communications and real-time programming. Hardest part of the job included the long hours and continuous need to be on call for 24x7 IT suppport, networking, email and television transmission systems. Most enjoyable were the staff, management, – more... feel of contrbuting to the public educational of the nation, and interesting work in so many different areas like high definition television, captioning for the blind, satellite transmission, prediction of sun outages on network feeds, etc. – less

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Former Employee), Arlington, VA – October 1, 2012
Pros: friendly environment, location, independent work environment
Cons: low salary, minimal advancement opportunities
I really enjoyed working for PBS. Everyone was very friendly, and the work environment was fun, colorful and there was ALWAYS some gathering or get together that involved food. I learned the basic tasks/responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant and my supervisors were really nice for the most part.

As cool of a place as you would imagine PBS to be....
Assistant to Senior Vice President (Former Employee), Arlington, VA – September 10, 2012
Pros: great benefits, excellent work/family balance, amazingly talented & creative people
Cons: low pay, difficult to advance from one level to another
There is no question that the salaries are low at PBS, but whatever you don't make in cash, you definitely gain in flexibility for schedules and last minute family obligations. I have always said that PBS is as cool of a place that you would imagine it to be (even if you don't get to work with Elmo and Big Bird, as my nephew thought). To that end, it – more... is an excellent first job for students right out of college, where they can learn the structure and responsibilities of the workplace in a nurturing environment, without the competitiveness of the 'for-profit' arena.

On a daily basis, the work is important and engaging (specific to department), and your co-workers are hard working and smart (with only a few exceptions). The vibe of the organization is warm and family-oriented, and even the people that drive you crazy are well-intentioned, good people.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the camaraderie that is fostered when gatherings take place in the communal kitchens over lunch and the most amazing conversations ensue! Similarly, at organizational meetings or conferences, when highlight reels of projects are shown, it is a wonderful feeling to remember that you are working at a place that is so committed to quality programming for everyone across the country. – less

Great Place to Work, Wish We Had More Resources.
Associate Producer (Former Employee), Washington, DC – June 9, 2012
Best News Around...still focuses on actual news not infotainment. Love being surrounded by smart people interested in doing real news. That said, money and lack of resources could be a problem.

great environment to be at with good management
Receptionist (Former Employee), Pinetown, Durban – September 9, 2012
Pros: 1hours
Cons: 9hours
I was so scared of my boss maybe I had so much respect fo him because I would end up doing the wrong things he have asked me to do but I have overcomed on that particular stage and became the brave young lady who don't let anybody to sacre me.

I have earned a lot from the company I worked for everything I know it''s all because of them.

Well the management – more... was in great I mean they wouldn't just tak any decision without communicating with the other staff.

When I had to my job just because the company couldn't have more more money to pay my salary

The most enjoybale part of the job is that I met alot different people and I learnt a lot from them. – less

Kleine organisatie maar groot in de wereld
Junior Management Assistent (Former Employee), Heemskerk – October 31, 2012

– less
